#252812 Does IGN hate Nintendo?

Posted by Coggit on 23 October 2013 - 09:34 AM

Today IGN gave Sonic Lost World a low score of like a 5 or something. Considering how they give games like Halo, COD, and Battlefield insanely high reviews and games like Zombi U a low score, and games like the Wii U version of Rayman a lower score then other ports I have grown to suspect IGN's reviews are either biased or bought out, or the fact they simply hate most Nintendo games. Your thoughts?

Sonic was given bad reviews by many reviewers. IGN weren't the worst. ZombiU isn't THAT good. In fact, the majority of reviews were negative for it. I think the reason it is so overrated is because the launch line up of the Wii U was bad as a whole, so an average game like ZombiU stands out more. I do think GameSpot's score was unacceptable for it though (4/10).

Fact of the matter is that IGN give Nintendo good reviews when they release good games. For example, WWHD was given 9.8/10. In fact, IGN is very generous with Nintendo games a lot of the time (Games like NSMBU was given 9.1/10 by them - and really, it didn't deserve that!).

I do get the feeling that GameSpot hates Nintendo though. 90% of their Nintendo reviews are extremely unfair and given extremely low scores. It actually stands out like a sore thumb. http://www.gamespot....WiiU&score=desc

Equally though, I do find Nintendo behind on the times. Lack of online multiplayer on games like NSMBU/NSLU is just unacceptable in 2013. No other developer would get away with it like Nintendo does - in fact, Rayman was heavily critized for it. Nintendo games might be good quality games - just like games like the original Zelda is! BUT if the original Zelda was released in 2013, despite it being a good game, it would be hammered in reviews for being outdated. And THIS is one of the biggest problems that face Nintendo and they just don't seem to want to tackle it, which is worrying.

If Nintendo don't add online multiplayer for Mario 3D world then they are stupid.

#219966 Nintendo E3= Disappointing?

Posted by Coggit on 11 June 2013 - 05:56 PM

I don't understand how anyone can defend Nintendo. It's sheep leading sheep. It's clear from yesterday's E3 Nintendo Direct and the Nintendo Power Hour on GT (which had interviews with Reggie) that the Wii U is a console that doesn't have a plan of action.

Nintendo have promised a great E3. They said they weren't having a conference this year because, and I quote, "It's all about the games". However, it has now become clear that Nintendo didn't have a conference purely because they just didn't have anything to announce. What did we learn in Nintendo's direct yesterday in terms of new games? Art Academy U? Oh whoop-di-do. The lack of 3rd party games is EXTREMELY worrying. Sure, there is no denying that Mario Kart, Zelda etc etc will sell some consoles. Sure, I'd agree. However, the vast difference between this generation and last is that the Wii had a gimmick that children *love*. The Wii U's gimmick (the GamePad) isn't as strong and it isn't as easily and cheaply affordable. So, who is going to buy a £250 console just to play Mario? Not many people, although some will. Besides all that, Nintendo promised great exclusives. For the first time in a very long time, Nintendo was going to be offering good quality games as opposed to the same old below-standard port we've became used to on the Wii and Nintendo just haven't delivered, and it's worrying.

During the GT Nintendo hour with Reggie, the interviewer kept on trying to push Reggie for answers about lack of 3rd party support, and Reggie just avoided the questions and quite frankly, was just talking utter rubbish throughout the entire thing. Like literally. It was hard to watch. Reggie basically implied that people were buying the Wii U just to play Mario/Zelda/Fit U etc etc. He also kept refering to the U as a first party console. It's just worrying. Then they had that surprise announcement! Everyone got excited, with GT thinking a new game was going to be announced, with ONM Chandra thinking a new game was announced, gaming communities were buzzing after the lack-luster Nintendo Direct we received - were they about to prove everyone wrong and show Nintendo was still relevant? What did they announce? Wii Fit Girl for SSB. It annoyed a lot of people, not because of Wii Fit Girl, but because it is now clear Nintendo just don't understand their consumers. The GT announcers got particularly annoyed about it, and went as far as refering to Nintendo as "The little league" trying to fight (and failing) the professionals (Sony/MS).

Frankly, it isn't good enough. Mario Kart 8, Wii Fit and Zelda should of been launch titles. With Wii Fit U now being delayed until WINTER, it is not going to come out over a year after the console was released, same with MK8, same with SSB, same with Zelda.  The issue here is this: by this time, PS4 and Xbox 1 will have been released. How many gamers are going to buy a £250 console, with limited capabilities compared to Sony and MS's consoles? With limited game released? With no 3rd party exclusives? Especially when the PS4 is just £75 more.

This E3, Sony are giving their gamers what they want. They looked at the market and reacted to it. Nintendo, on the other hand, just seem clueless. It's like they have no business plan. I'm worried about the future of the Wii U. After this E3, no one can defend Nintendo anymore. Maybe it is time to be more vocal so that Nintendo will listen. it's worked for Sony fans as we have seen. The problem with Nintendo fans is they bury their heads in the sand and just blindly follow (granted, not all of us do :P!), but maybe it is just time to say enough is enough.  I'm not denying some great games are coming, but it's not enough - especially following the huge hype from Sony. Once Nintendo pushes the people who invested in the U away, they won't get them back - people won't take the same risk twice.

I was just thinking how PERFECT a Pokémon Stadium game would be on the U with Miiverse. The possibilities are really epic. I can't imagine we'll see it announced anytime soon (especially with Pokémon Rumble coming soon!) but it would be amazing. I'm also hoping for an achievement system (mainly to show off my ePen0r on Miiverse!).

I love it also.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't going to win any awards. But for what it is, it isn't terrible. ZombiU? No. But it still gave me a few cheap frights. I'm actually really really enjoying it.

#156085 Aurora theater re-opening, sends invitations to families of shooting victims.

Posted by Coggit on 04 January 2013 - 03:58 PM

I don't see the problem. They sent invitations to a MEMORIAL service. If it was simply a case of "oh, sorry for your loss! Here is a free cinema ticket!!" then sure, disgusting. However, that wasn't the case.

Also, it's hardly the cinema's fault what happen. Why put people out of jobs when the cinema is still in working order? If you consider all of the murders which take place ever year, if we were to knock down every single builder where a murder has taken place, then a lot of people would be out of homes, jobs etc et.

#151727 Wii U Wishlist

Posted by Coggit on 25 December 2012 - 05:36 AM

Personally, I would just like Nintendo to keep the momentum it's gained with the launch of the U. 3rd party games are a must for me, I really hope that the Wii U doesn't turn into a console like the Wii where PS3/360 versions of games were significantly superior.

I feel like I've taken a "risk" with the Wii U and I really hope that it doesn't disappoint!
