#59735 RUMOR: Final Dev Kits more powerful than anticipated

Posted by Reaper Pin on 04 February 2012 - 10:08 PM in Wii U Hardware

This is very good news. Nintendo might actually get it right the first time around. Now I need them to make sure the 3rd party games are there.

No.

Also like I've always said - it's TOO DAMN EARLY to judge Wii U. We DON'T KNOW what it will be capable of, what it will offer to us. We may find this out the following week at E3. Stay positive.

For me it is, for you it isn't

Posted by Reaper Pin on 29 May 2012 - 03:14 PM in Wii U Hardware

Alright, found this post on NeoGaf- Thought it might calm down some of you! It's a very good post with logic behind it-

The Wii U "officially" will not run UE4, this is no surprise to anyone here. (I said as much) An official confirmation of sorts from Geoff Keighley, via twitter, courtesy of Nirolak at Neo-Gaf:http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=475868 I said that it was a transitional console, I didn't mince words. This term was meant to clearly deliniate the Wii U as beyond this console generation's visual & feature set capabilities, though not occupying the same technical power space as the Orbis & Durango.

I view this as a non-issue however, the Wii U is capable of more than what the Unreal 3 engine provides. (on current gen. systems) Gearbox's Wii U version of Aliens:CM should show this within the framework of UE3 cross-platform development.(esp.within their custom lighting engine) 4A Games' Metro:LL should follow suit as well on their proprietary engine. (some programmers over there are extremely gifted, & want to push the technical envelope even further) Proprietary Wii U engines will showcase this best however, as specific toolkits & feature sets are created to exploit the console's strengths. Expect more than just Retro's offering to truly impress at E3. Nintendo has made some very strong 3rd party partnerships for both cross, as well as console exclusive software.(even contacturally in some instances) This will not change once UE4 becomes widely accessible to developers. A repeat of the Wii's software demise is not in the cards I assure you. This also assumes that UE4 becomes the de facto middleware solution for the next generation.

Most developers will be utilizing Unreal 3 as a base early on regardless of Orbis's & Durango's ability to run UE4. As I posted earlier, MS's Durango's now going "all in" with UE4 as of the GDC. Prior to the GDC the Durango wasn't compatible either. In any case, do you truly believe that UE4 won't be scalabe to an extent? Frostbite, Cryengine, etc certainty are. From purely an economic viewpoint, this scenario makes no sense.

#63538 NINTENDO E3 2012- Your Speculation!

Posted by Reaper Pin on 25 February 2012 - 07:18 PM in Wii U Games and Software

My E3 speculation:

Wii U name change (I still like Super Wii, or calling it the new system NES again).

Big 3rd party support, perhaps even a Call of Duty on stage appearance.

Nintendo Network information and a SAME DAY system update for 3DS, allowing for your 3DS Friend Code to be attached to a much easier to use Nintendo Network ID.

First party launch window titles announced.

Release date: November 18, 2012. Price: $299

Dude, I f****** love your avatar.

Oh, and nice speculation, too. xD

Bump?
So I guess there's just 36 days left!
Many things have been said about the Wii U and Nintendo since this thread was created-
Plus, we've got Rayman Legends "Leaked" trailer, shows off NFC and graphical power?
Do you have new hopes/dreams or speculation about e3 now that we're so close to it?
But let's cross out some pretty possible stuff now-
Pikmin 3- Confirmed by the man itself
Graphical Power- We've pretty much seen that it's at least on "Par" with current gen in Rayman Legends
Retro's Game- It HAS to be shown, or at least mentioned
Monolith's Game- Oh, come on, Xenoblade was made in 2010, it's enough time for a concept to be shown!
Price- Iwata said No-no at the investor's meeting
Release Date- He also said no for the release date.

So, what do you guys think! We're sooo close!

#75671 Black Ops II Confirmed

Posted by Reaper Pin on 28 April 2012 - 03:55 PM in General Gaming

i bet they will use the tablet for video chat!! :D will be awesome

Uh...
Dude, I don't think anyone wants to video chat while playing games like CoD.
I don't want to get teabagged on video chat.
oh God no.

#76669 Black Ops II Confirmed

Posted by Reaper Pin on 02 May 2012 - 10:41 PM in General Gaming

Yeah, but if it was a cute girl on the other end?

PERCEPTION CHANGED!

YOU MAKE THINGS SO HARD!
... Balls... or cute girls...
Oh my God, such a dilemma.

no new routes, story might be different, but its most likely the same engine and actual gameplay from previous versions

unless they actually decided to do something different than the gameplay of modern warfare on their 5th title afterwords, no?

I beg of everyone to not buy this game, tell treyarch how it feels to fear the fans of Nintendo ;-)

edit: before people disagree with pointless points, I did see the robot thingy and horses, it will hardly add any new aspect to game mechanics though, and you will still get dumped off into a corner to shoot heads coming out of tin cans

lol Treyarch has worked on a "Horse Scat" load of Nintendo Wii games/ CoD ports...
What fear?

#77384 Dev Kit V5

Posted by Reaper Pin on 07 May 2012 - 09:07 PM in Wii U Hardware

- version 5 of the dev kits are near final
- there was a delay in getting out these dev kits of around one month
- these are mass produced dev kits
- a small handful of Japanese devs may have had the V5 kits a tad earlier
- it seems that at least one game engine saw some improvement in how it ran from the V4 kit to V5
- if the dev kits are updated again, any refinements will be small
- One of the dev kit aspects (in comparison to the v4 ones) is '...original'
- the new dev kits also came with an additional bit of good news (no details behind this news)

Ideaman also said the good news is something everyone will love and the Wii U's power is "Wii U is primarily an experience, and it will be power-wise efficient and powerful enough for Nintendo and a lot of third-parties needs"

Speaking about the guy, he's suddenly getting alot of hate in the Neogaf thread, for some reason, People are starting to believe he's been spreading Bullcrap the whole time, which could be true. It worries me.

Posted by Reaper Pin on 27 June 2012 - 10:37 PM in General Gaming

I read the thread title after E3 2012.
I thought "Book it" was a pun because Wonderbook was shown, and there was no PS4 Tech Demo...

#65645 Donkey Kong 64 Remake

Posted by Reaper Pin on 10 March 2012 - 10:57 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Donkey Kong belongs to Nintendo I thought.
What stops them releasing a remake on a console?

Posted Image

Oh god no, please don't let this be Retro's new project.
I just want them to work on something else, we already got a Donkey Kong game on 2010!
:/

#86625 So, Uh- I think I might want a PS4? [Wii U Hardware stuff]

Posted by Reaper Pin on 11 June 2012 - 09:07 AM in Wii U Hardware

Lurking on Neogaf, I found this and... I hope it's.. bullcrap!
Post from a Neogaf user called "Bgassasin"-

Wsippel gave me the heads up on a very interesting post on B3D.

http://forum.beyond3....postcount=1248

Quote:
From what I hear (and I trust my source on this as reliable), the CPU chip in WiiU is almost certainly weaker than Xenon & Cell. Which is why some devs have outright refused to port their existing (in-development) PS360 games to it. I believe Nintendo indended the GPU compute support to make up the difference for their weak CPU choice, however the CPU performance is so bad that devs would be required to refactor their entire engines to get stuff working on the GPU instead, and for many dev that would be impossible on their current project schedules.

-------------------------------------------
Uh... Speculate! I honestly don't know what to believe anymore. You have these comments from developers saying that the Wii U is powerful but then you have these people with "Sources" on forums. I... I really don't want to be stuck with crappy hardware for yet another generation (2 gens with GC/PS2 FTW!)
So what do you think?

#86631 So, Uh- I think I might want a PS4? [Wii U Hardware stuff]

Posted by Reaper Pin on 11 June 2012 - 09:16 AM in Wii U Hardware

Wouldn't be surprised after all that we're hearing lately. What DOES confuse me though, is that wasn't there a dev a month or two ago that came out and said the Wii U had a "really great processor"?

Yes, and this is the kind of crap that confuses me. I don't know.. I don't think we'll know anything about the Wii U's power until it's actually released. It's scary... and if Nintendo does indeed make the Wii U "On Par" with PS360... I think they might actually be doomed this time.
