#313036 What's in store for the 3DS?

Posted by Marcus on 15 May 2015 - 07:50 PM in General Gaming

To be honest, they could end the 3DS today and it'd still have enough awesome games to last another few years. There're also a ton of DS games I haven't got round to.

As for up and coming games. Fire Emblem is the main one. Then I'll be waiting for localization announcements for Bravely Second, Final Fantasy Explorers and the recently announced Dragon Quest 8. Especially Dragon Quest, I never played that and have repeatedly read it's the best in the series. Hope they add C-stick camera controls.

#313000 Gorgeous New Footage of 90’s Arcade Racer for Wii U

Posted by Marcus on 14 May 2015 - 01:58 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Weird coincidence with the toy story bedroom track. He can't have known Nintendo were doing something similar.

#312911 Yooka-Laylee, revealed, officially planned for Wii U

Posted by Marcus on 12 May 2015 - 09:53 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I don't care about Amiibos either. But apparently they've sold more than they have WiiUs....

#312808 More Mario Kart 8 DLC on the way

Posted by Marcus on 10 May 2015 - 05:15 AM in Wii U Games and Software

So is this battle mode then?

#312632 Hyrule Warriors has sold 1 million units worldwide & Two New IP's?

Posted by Marcus on 05 May 2015 - 06:00 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Fire Emblem Warriors son. FE universe is 10x that of Zelda so the DLC could go on for a long time and the game would be massive. FEW needs to happen.

Is Fire Emblem one universe? I've only played 2 games and they seemed to be completely disconnected.

#312574 Yooka-Laylee, revealed, officially planned for Wii U

Posted by Marcus on 03 May 2015 - 04:26 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Genitals are offensive because children do not yet know they have them.

My favourite ever complaint of that variety was someone who wrote in to a TV show on the BBC at one point complaining about nudity with the reason being "breasts are not suitable for children". Brilliant.

#312560 Yooka-Laylee, revealed, officially planned for Wii U

Posted by Marcus on 02 May 2015 - 04:00 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Lol so I look back at the kickstarter page for the first time considering pledging.....

No need at all. Already smashed every record in the book. I think maybe I'll just buy when it comes out. Good job 3D platformer fans, we need to revive this genre.

#312558 Mario Kart 8 update 4.1 is now live

Posted by Marcus on 02 May 2015 - 03:44 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Oh bloody hell, I just spent half the week unlocking the damn thing.

#312513 Yooka-Laylee, revealed, officially planned for Wii U

Posted by Marcus on 30 April 2015 - 09:23 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I look forward to the sequel Pea and Anno.

This might be my first kickstarter pledge actually. How do they tend to do the different platforms in terms of pledges cos I only really wanna play it on Wii U? I guess it depends on how they set their milestones but does anyone ever have platform specific pledges?

#312493 New 3ds thread

Posted by Marcus on 30 April 2015 - 02:23 AM in General Gaming

It also means that an awful lot of people bought a New3DS just for the sake of the shiny new hardware (as I think they'd said over a million had been sold already). Which you might argue is a bit of a sad fact.

#312486 Microsoft Lies About Witcher 3 Footage and Gets Caught

Posted by Marcus on 29 April 2015 - 09:04 PM in General Gaming

It's pretty minor when compared to some of the lies we get about games pre-release. But it's still a lie. People can reasonably expect games shown on the Xbox channel are running on the Xbox. Plenty of people only game in a fairly casual way and really don't keep up to date with all of the info. They'll be coming from the position of just assuming what they see is genuine. I wouldn't care about the 900p to 1080p jump but the 30fps to 60fps is one I definitely care about.

#312478 May 2015 and June 2015 Games

Posted by Marcus on 29 April 2015 - 04:52 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Haha one game per month. Good old Nintendo.

I'm def getting Splatoon. Maybe Legend of Kay too actually, it's quite cheap.

#312430 Who are YOU voting for?

Posted by Marcus on 27 April 2015 - 12:12 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Liberal Democrats probably. Oh wait......I sense I've confused the context here.

#312420 Splatoon will get DLC

Posted by Marcus on 26 April 2015 - 06:19 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Mario Galaxy would work quite well actually. A lot of the previews did point out there are similarities! Although I guess you couldn't necessarily shoot as many places you planned on going with the whole curvature issue. The paint shots would have to get caught in the gravity.

#312408 *Stands up and applauds*

Posted by Marcus on 26 April 2015 - 11:38 AM in General Gaming

Sure, you might be responsible enough and I don't disagree but call me cynical, I don't have faith in mass population having a proper sense of reason and voting responsibly with their wallets, at least when it comes to gaming

Haha well you've hit upon the dilemna at the heart of mine, and many people's, entire political worldviews! Which is worse? Mob stupidity or state corruption? To be honest, I'm not even sure. It seems to switch from year to year. Look at censorship nowadays. Until quite recently, that was hugely a worry about the government. Now it's a worry about whatever twitter mob happens to arise out of the scum pits.

I would say the main difference is that state legislation is very hard to remove once it's in place. Mob zeitgeist can easily change quickly. For better or worse.

#312407 Splatoon will get DLC

Posted by Marcus on 26 April 2015 - 11:33 AM in Wii U Games and Software

How about Mario Kart drive by splatoon'ing haha

The only potential flaw in that would be what would difference would there be between squid-carting and non-squid carting? Given that the usual differences is about speed, it would seem.

#312406 Black Ops 3 reveal trailer

Posted by Marcus on 26 April 2015 - 10:47 AM in General Gaming

They've added another update that seems to keep the possibility open. Probably best to forget about though!

#312389 *Stands up and applauds*

Posted by Marcus on 25 April 2015 - 08:46 PM in General Gaming

I despise it and I don't see this practice dieing off unless there is some sort of legislation against it.

Yeah, you have the exact opposite thought process as I do.

My position is that there should never ever be legislation for any of it. People should just educate themselves and vote with their money more responsibly. The government should only ever intervene in the market when there's actual harm being done. Not when people are being willing fools.

#312381 Splatoon will get DLC

Posted by Marcus on 25 April 2015 - 08:17 PM in Wii U Games and Software

If they did the same thing as they have with Mario Kart DLC, that'd be awesome: bring in other Nintendo series! I want Link with a squid mask sliming up the walls of Hyrule castle.

#312305 Mario Kart DLC 2 not working? Anyone else have issues?

Posted by Marcus on 23 April 2015 - 11:33 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Works fine my end. Although having to unlock 200cc is a bit annoying. Maybe try deleted all of your system data for the game and start over?

#312276 Xenoblade Chronicles 3D - Final Game Stable, Steady Frame Rate

Posted by Marcus on 23 April 2015 - 09:57 AM in General Gaming

Lots of people on the gaming site comment sections is complaining about the graphics. Do they bother you?

Not at all. It's perfectly playable and the original game feels completely intact. There are just a few moments when you think it looks a bit rough, Colonies 6 and 9 buildings all look a bit muddy for example. In contrast though, some of the wide-open natural parts don't feel like they've suffered at all. The fact that areas like the Bionis' Leg run without any framerate dips is pretty incredible to witness on a handheld. The only performance hit I've noticed so far is in parts of Sword Valley.

As ports go, it's better than average.

#312272 Xenoblade Chronicles 3D - Final Game Stable, Steady Frame Rate

Posted by Marcus on 23 April 2015 - 09:11 AM in General Gaming

I've just got to the Mechonis (actual body, not the sword).

Such an incredible game. This probably has to be my favourite video game world ever created. I don't think I've ever really stopped to take in the view in games before.

#312269 Official Xenoblade Information Thread

Posted by Marcus on 23 April 2015 - 08:18 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Can anyone comb through all of the thousands of bits of info we have on this game to answer the question:  "Will you level up by exploring the world, like in the prequel?"

I also want to add my voice to the "stop moaning about supposed visual downgrades" position. Most of the in-game visuals have improved hugely from the first footage we saw. Having 1 cutscene look slightly worse is hardly a problem and really shouldn't be categorised along with the Watch Dogs fiasco which was a huge across-the-board lie about the visuals.

#312267 Splatoon will get DLC

Posted by Marcus on 23 April 2015 - 08:14 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Yeah, kinda sucks only one v one. My best guess is the hard deadline didn't give them the chance, thus DLC.

I got the sense from reading various interviews that it was restricted by the hardware. The whole inky-ness being, I assume, a lot harder to render 4 times than a Mario Kart track.

#312203 Splatoon Wii U Bundle with Nintendoland too..

Posted by Marcus on 21 April 2015 - 04:42 PM in Wii U Games and Software

They better advertise the hell out of this on TV

I dunno about TV but it's been pretty much the most common Ad I've seen on gaming websites this week!
