I changed my mind. Now that I look at it, the small moving picture looks better against the coloured BG, than it would if it took the whole page.

That's just a gradient in the image itself. It's a huge 1200p Yoshi wallpaper that looks beautiful on my screen, but probably doesn't even begin to fit on most. You can see the full image here: http://wii2boards.com/uploads/bgimages/bgimg-2.png

The rep system is already active. I don't think it's causing any trouble, but it's going to be better in IPB 3.2, because they changed it to a "like" system.
