I'd argue there are better ways to express yourself that don't involve drilling holes in your body, but what they do with their body is not my concern.
It's actually kind of convenient, that way I have a visual cue that lets me know this person isn't the sort of person I'd get along with.

Yeah I know it's their body, that's what makes it so frustrating cause I can't fault them for it, I just got a thing against them.
