Because early adopters are nothing new. Furthermore, releases and sales have just been becoming more and more frontloaded, so again, just because it has 1 million preorders doesn't really mean much when you're hit with that context. It's why a movie breaking box office records doesn't really mean much anymore or why a game hitting huge numbers first week doesn't mean much. Sure, the launch week might be big, but then you have to think of the subsequent weeks and, let's face it, followup sales being far lower is very common now.

This is more than early adopters coming to the PS4. There are well over 100 million potential customers who will be replacing PS3 and Xbox 360's with PS4's over the next few years.

Let's face it. MS lost customers. Wii U was never taken seriously outside of the Nintendo faithful.

I work with a lot of gamers. Most are going PS4 and dropping Xbox completely. They never even gave the Wii U a chance. You see the same thing happening in the US at least.

For the PS4 to have 2.5 million people that interested before lunch is amazing. At my Gamestop we had 3 Wii U's reserved for pick up. There are over 30 PS4 reserved and will be there. That is not pretty.

No, that's precisely what early adopters are; like I said, things have just become more and more front-loaded in gaming, especially as of late. Furthermore, there's no sign of more people wanting  to replace their systems just because the PS4 is out .If anyone has an uphill battle it's Sony and MS because there really isn't any difference between the PS4, XB1 and their predecessors besides slightly pretty graphical effects. The 360 was slow as hell to sell until 2007. The PS3 took THREE YEARS to hit its stride. And this is only going to become the norm from now on. Gaming is a luxury and people can deal with not upgrading their systems, especially when the cheapest of the HD twins comes in at $400 without a game, online subscription, or more than one controller. I don't ANY of the new systems doing well their first year, and that's going to be a wakeup call for all parties involved.

I had to laugh at this. At first I thought you were being serious through this conversation, but it is new obvious this is just a goof.

To say the only difference between the PS4 and the 3 is "slight graphical differences" truly is laughable.

The first generation games will be much better then what is coming out now 7 years into the PS3 life. Just wait for the next wave of games.

Also pointing out the failure of the PS3 at launch only strengthens my position. It flopped because it was too expensive for what you got. ... like the Wii U.

Oh yeah. There will be 4 free to play games available to check out on day one. Not the best. But Something.

Let's not forget that PS4 has a lot of people pre-ordering so that they can flip the system at a higher price.  I know several people at work and family who reserved 2 PS4's (they had another family member make the reservation) in order to flip the system for twice the price to some stupid fanboy who HAS TO HAVE the system on launch!!!

A new Wii U deluxe bundle with both Nintendo Land, Wind Waker HD, and a single $20 eShop credit for W101, Pikmin3, Lego City: Undercover, DKCR:TF etc for $349 would be an excellent deal for most people. Just as long as Nintendo launches the system a few weeks before PS4/Xbox-One launches.  It would also help if they keep the bundle until Christmas when Mario 3D world, Sonic, and Tropical Freeze releases as an alternative to families who won't find a PS4/Xbox-One for the holidays.  If they sell the bundle at $349; I am sure they would do a $30-$50 eShop credit (on select Nintendo titles) for those who decide to pick up the regular Deluxe version (if those even exist during the Wind Waker bundle).  They should also drop the ZombieU bundle to $349, as it would fly off the shelves at that price.

There are also Free2Play games for Wii U...not the best BUT something also.

If they want to make it seem like they lowered the price without actually lowering it then just get rid of the bundled game, because really the wiiu only costs $299. Also make it so that the white version has 32gb memory. There you go problem solved no more "OMGZ ONLEY $50 CHEEEPER DEN DIZ PSSSSSFUR!!!!" I still don't get why people compare a bundled console that comes with a $60 game to a console that comes with nothing.

Because not everyone wants the game.

Yep. They got all us early adopters. Now time to get the common man.

But seriously. I like what they did there.

Value added with WWHD and a price drop. It is still a GC on steroids with a pack in GC game. But $300 is now competitive.

Oh, and a cooler game pad. That makes me jealous.
Thank you Nintendo. Now Advertise!
