I haven't played the full game yet, but I have downloaded and played the demo. What I have experienced so far has made me place Sonic Racing on my wishlist, but I feel the experience is too far from a true Mario Kart experience to really deter me from purchasing Mario Kart U.

 

As I have stated before I am a huge fan of the wacky cartoonish racing games, the realistic racers bore me. Sonic Racing's major downfall, for me, is that it isn't cartoonish and wacky enough for my taste. Now, it is certainly a far cry from anything realistic. It does has some very wacky weapons and courses. However, when I play the demo I just get a more realistic sim vibe. I can't pin point why exactly... it's kind of irrelevant. This is just my own opinion on the game, and I will be buying Mario Kart U on launch day.

 

Sonic Racing is a great racer! I'm going to be buying it as soon as I can.

Let's hope the next Mariokart has an option to switch off blueshells. I understand why Nintendo use it to open up the game to weaker players a bit more but at times can absolutely destroy the playability of a game as its so unfair and you simply have to switch off or move onto another game.

played the demo on wii u and was impressed with sonic so i ordered it on vita seems the perfect handheld game to me i don't think mario kart will be irrelevant everybody loves them as they are always so well made no need too worry about it.

Not sure why there is a lot of hate towards the recent Sonic racer.. I found it to be great fun.. And blast from the past with some of the surprises!! I also enjoy Mario Kart.

It didn't kill my interest for Mario Kart, but Mario Kart has been getting pretty stale. The luck-based racing is getting annoying to me. Sonic Racing was a breath of fresh air, basically.

Yeah nintendo should make the new MK more like Sonic Racing, where its driving skill that helps you win the race instead of luck.

Learn how to handle an opinion. Just because I didn't like it doesn't mean other people won't. I never stated that my opinion was "final". 

tbh i agree with zinix, it isnt very fun The controls are very stiff compared to MK.
