I hope not or I'll end up going with the ps4. I personally don't need or want my GAMES console to be able to do everything, I have a decent 3D blue ray player for my movies, a sky+HD box for t.v. and a nexus 7 tablet & HTC one x phone for things like YouTube Facebook twitter etc, I buy consoles to play GAMES on,I've never even looked at the other stuff my 360 can do, and I have no interest in kinect, the room my console is in is too small for a start, and I have no interest in flailing my arms about as though I'm being attacked by invisible wasps or talking to my console ( having to put up with the voices in my head is bad enough)! I just wanna play GAMES using an ordinary controller, that is good enough for me dangit! Focus Your 720 on doing that extremely well Microsoft or say bye bye to a lot of your customers!....probably....*puff*.*pant*..rant over...that is all...message ends...
I hear voices in my head all the time, telling me what to do. But I just ignore them and carry on killing.

I think you mean at least a mountain of salt.   :P With that being said I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft went in such a direction.

I'm gonna bet.... 50 cents that the next xbox is big, and I mean really big, like, as big as it is on gaming, on multimedia other than gaming. I don't see it as a bad thing, but it will probably all cost money so I'm out.

I've wanted a console to just play video games since they stopped that with last gen... I hate all the multimedia functions because it costs money that could be put into gaming aspects like more processing power and more RAM and less crap like DVD playback or Facebook integration. And in the PS4 case a massive OS running the Internet at all times in the background that uses up probably 2-3 GB of RAM! That RAM could be used to make games better with less load times and better draw distance which makes you feel more immersed. Microsoft has no place in the gaming business and I hope people show them that by not buying a 720!

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

Lets list the cons for the next xbox here-
-focused on kinect
-pay to play online
-not much support from third parties as of now
-not focused on gaming
-probably going to be weak hardware

The Kinect ain't always for motion. alot of the new Xbox360 games that are kinect compatible barley use it or are optional. They just want to make it so the fans of Kinect can use it on whatever they please while the people that don't prefer it can stick to a controller only.

When the time comes for me to get another next gen system I will get the PS4 instead. The 720 looks like a stepdown form the 360 minus the graphic improvement.

I'm under the impression that game consoles aren't about games right now. Over the past decade, we've seen internet browsers, social media apps, DVD/Blu-Ray playback, digital streaming/downloads for movies, among other things. I'm not saying those are bad things, but at it's core, a gaming console should be focused on games. With additional features in the background, icing on the cake if you will.
