Next level are most known for the soccer/football series of mario, my bet's on that.

With Nollog on this one, using the gamepad or touch screen on 3DS would be good for managing a soccer/football game. Plus, they seem to be running out of Mario games to put on the 3DS. We got Mario Tennis, golf... whats next? Strikers.

DUDE! If it was Punchout I would just die from excitement. That is literally my favorite game on the Wii aside from Brawl.
Worth noting that they made the Wii version of Punch-Out!! Maybe it's another one?
I will not die until I achieve something. Even though the ordeal is high, I never give in. Therefore, I die with no regrets~Ikaruga Prologue

My guess is Mario Strikers.
3DS already has Mario Tennis and will get Mario Golf soon, so, Wii U most likely.
People are claiming it´s being developed since October, but the guy who posted that also started working there on October. The game could be in development for some time now. With luck we will probably see something at E3.

Well, they did an excellent job with LM judging on the reviews. So I think Nintendo is willing to trust them with a bigger IP now.
They have slowly been getting bigger and bigger IP's.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's probably starfox.

Would Mario Strikers or Punch Out warrant the notion of being "top-secret" ?

No, I don't think it's either of those.
Next Level games has a lot of talent, and they have progressively gotten more and more talented. They started off with lowly mario sports games. Then they got punch out and delivered a knock out (see what I did there?) and Luigi's mansion is getting unprecedented praise. I think whatever they are working on is something bigger.

My thoughts exactly, sourcing off Luigi's Mansion seems like a big sign of trust from Nintendo.
I hope its a Wii U game, it opens up the possibility of more old Nintendo IP's reboots/sequels.
Instead of Retro's slight chance of working on Eternal Darkness, maybe Next Level are doing it .

I don't think Nintendo cares about Eternal Darkness sadly.
We can dream though.
I personally could see them doing Starfox.

They care enough to keep renewing the trademark since the release of the Gamecube game.
Not sure if thats worth anything though, I'm not familiar with all the trademarks they renew and do nothing with.
Starfox does make for a better fit in the progressive curve of IP importance they've been allowed to work on.
