How much do reviews affect your decisions? The books you read, the movies you watch, the music you listen to, the games you play, how much do reviews affect these thing if at all.

For example game reviews by IGN, Nintendo Life etc
Movie Reviews by the Telegraph etc

And so on.

I don't read reviews.
I discover the existence of a game, read about the gameplay, and see some gameplay videos, then I buy the game if it's interesting.

I think they affect me quite a lot, some times I don't get a game 'cause of bad reviews.

Yeah, you've done a great job so far, letting the Metal Heads destroy the palace.

I don't let reviews affect me in my purchasing decisions. If it interests me, no matter how crappy it can get, I always find a way to make it work...

It's called low standards.

I don't think IGN's reviews are very fair (low rating for a pointless reason) although I do watch reviews just to see what the game is like

I use reviews to judge things, but I cross reference all of the similar points between reviews to get an idea of what the games like

Games that refuse to use Gameplay effectively to do anything are like films that refuse to use cinematography in film to do anything.

Reviews don't really affect what games I get if a game gets crap reviews and I like the look of it but it does affect my decision a bit if a game gets favorable reviews that I wasn't considering or don't know much about.

But it usually is.
IGN is notorious for biased reviews.
The two pretty much are the same thing at this point.

A good review to me is one that Shows the "Pros" and "Cons".

If the reviewer seems one sided in his/her review I'm more likely to ignore it, however is he/she is open and honest about the week points or faults as well as the good points I may base my decisions on that.

Otherwise I need to try it myself.

Well, this does say reviews in the title so...

When I made my fanfiction, a guy who reviewed on it was so brutal, it made me not want to write ever again.
