I discover the existence of a game, read about the gameplay, and see some gameplay videos, then I buy the game if it's interesting.

IGN is notorious for biased reviews.

If the reviewer seems one sided in his/her review I'm more likely to ignore it, however is he/she is open and honest about the week points or faults as well as the good points I may base my decisions on that.
Otherwise I need to try it myself.

When I made my fanfiction, a guy who reviewed on it was so brutal, it made me not want to write ever again.
