PC engine looks much more sharper/clearer than the PS4 version.

Agreed. The graphics are beautiful.

The geometry is nearly identical.
The textures are nearly identical.

The difference is in the IE4 lighting and particles.

The PS4 version of that demo can literally be done in UE3.

The lighting/particles on the pc version give a very subtle effect that isn't immediately noticeable, but creates a much more natural looking scene. Likewise the particle system is outstanding on pc. On ps4 it's extremely tight in terms of scripted patterns and paths.

I'm kinda disappointed by the difference. I noticed at one point that there was lava, but there was no light coming from it in the ps4 version. Overall the lighting was so much better in the PC one..

Take a look at the chest plate armor on the fire dude. Texture reflections on pc. Completely absent on ps4.

If ue4 belongs on ps4 then it definitely belongs on wii u.

It's fine to port an engine, so you can take advantage of a few new features and an updated and streamlined workflow, but honestly both the Wii U and PS4 have near featureset parity.

Im really not moved at all by the ps4 yet, I would really hope those framerates are cleaned up for the amount of hype and bold statements like "ps4 will outperform most pc's". Honestly Crytek could of pulled off that PS4 demo on the PS3....

You mean EPIC?  They could have pulled off most of it, at least made it look similar, hell they could make it look the same in UE3.

Oh no, I meant Crytek could have made something on the PS3 that looks better than what EPIC did on this PS4 demo. Basically im just saying im not seeing the cause for any ps4 hype because the graphics so far just look like what a respectable developer like Crytek has already done with ps3.

Well that was, stunning, absolutly beautiful, I don't know why but that demo always reminds me of Skyrim, especially the music and chanting in the background lol

Wait, that was PS4? Haha, ok, I thought that was the PS3.

Anyways, yeah, there's definitely a big difference between the two. I think the Wii U will be able to get pretty near to that kind of quality.

Exactly. That's why it's asinine to build a separate ue4 engine for ps3 vs the pc version, but leave the very capable wii u out of Epic's focus. Ue4 would look nearly identical on wii u as it does on ps4. There isn't anything going on there that is out of ue3 scope actually. Very. Nice graphics. Sweet textures. Great scripted lighting. Tight, preset particles launching on command, etc. great art direction too. But nothing on ps4 seemed to truly use the ue4 specifics. staple tasks have been rewritten, optimized and simplified-which is a great reason to use the new engine-even on phones. Everything will benefit whether all features are used or not, simply due to the application of previously learned lessons.

No technical hurdle exists for epic to build a stunning ue4 engine for wii u. It's all just an idiot playing favorites. And the guy clearly has issues with Nintendo.

I'm kinda disappointed that a system which everyone seems to think is really powerful is already being beat (by a noticeable margin) by PC's.

For what it's worth, the original UE4 demo was on a pretty outrageous PC setup.  the new Infiltrator demo on a more realistic (but still very expensive) PC setup looks a lot more like The Samaritan, but with worse character models (especially the horrid face models).

Also, I would expect the PS4 can do a better job of the elemental demo than what was shown.  I suspect that the Unreal 4 engine is somewhat facing a struggle to leap ahead.  Not enough foresight was brought in to the beginning of development and therefore it is more like UE3 Plus (as in UE3 plus prettier particles and more realistic lighting - but at a very steep performance hit for a difference that isn't immediately noticeable.).  In other words, not much "bang for your buck." think of UE4 like a very optimized UE3, but with a few, new, processing intensive options.

The only problem with "UE3 Plus" is that the "plus" (4) part of it requires so much power to accomplish so (seemingly) little that no one really is going to care much.  And that leaves us with looking for minor details in what is essentially a very impressive demo on both platforms.

The reason we even care however, is that it is plain that the Wii U could do exactly what the PS4 is doing here.  and yet epic wants to artificially exaggerate their engine by saying it wouldn't be a good fit for the Wii U.
