Initial talk regarding Suda51′s next game (the one coming after Killer is Dead) centered around it being related to No More Heroes in some fashion. Actually, some fans thought that it could be No More Heroes 3. But in an interview with Siliconera, Suda51 himself clarified that it’s a brand new IP.
Other details shared by Suda51 and GungHo Online Entertainment CEO Kazuki Morirainbowa include:
- Yusuke Kozaki who worked on No More Heroes is working on the game
- Main character doesn’t have a chip on her shoulder, but there is a point in time when it comes out
- She’s usually timid, quiet, and nice
- Suda51 decided to go with a female lead
- Likely will be a combination of RPG and hack ‘n slash
- Will have elements like finding items which will be luck based
- Online component isn’t versus or co-op
- Different style of friends system
- Concepts started being made in November of last year
- Still in preproduction
- Current-gen is one of the team’s targets, but not confirmed
- Game will be for consoles but the team can’t say which ones yet
- Uses Unreal engine
- Can’t say if it’s Unreal 3 or Unreal 4
- Takes place in the future
- Not set in Japan
- Mix of Western culture and Japan mixed together
