I think he's right and we're gonna be seeing the Wii U update very soon. This is also evident considering Nintendo's server status right now which usually happens before an update

Except Nintendo Network changes can happen any time and don't require a system update for changes they make like allowing id's to be used on the 3ds.
Why would they need to update your Wii U for that?

Don't think this means anything, what I'm looking out for is a Nintendo Direct announcement, because it'd be pretty cool to give a reveal of some games at the same time such as maybe some trailers of Mario 3D, Super Smash newcomers trailer, Wind Waker teaser trailer, bayonetta 2 gameplay trailer etc at the same time as talking about the current update features, and the future summer update.

well they did unite both teams. i would like to see how they mannage to connect those. could make for a good pokemon mmo somehow.
