We at Nintendo sincerely thank you for your continued patronage of our company’s products. We would like to inform you that a portion of the network services offered through the Wii console will be discontinued starting June 28, 2013.

We apologize to those of you currently using these services, and ask for your understanding. The affected applications are as follows:

• Forecast Channel

• News Channel

• Everybody Votes Channel

• Nintendo Channel

• Check Mii Out Channel

• Data exchange between Wii friends on WiiConnect24*

*Wii message exchanges via Wii Message Board, Mii exchanges via Mii Channel, and exchanges of messages or data in some game titles will no longer be possible.

Following the discontinuation, the above services will not be available even if they are started up on the Wii menu. However, services other than those mentioned above, such as the automatic receipt of “Today’s Accomplishments” on the Wii Message Board and the Wii Shop Channel are unaffected and can continue to be used.

And Nintendo begins putting the final nails in the Wii's coffin.

So sad, feels like only yesterday I turned on my Wii and played Twilight Princess. *Sigh* This is a big sacrifice Nintendo, I sure as all hell hope you can do better with the Wii U in its current state.

Ever since I bought my Wii in 2007, I never touched the Forecast or News Channels. Just saw no purpose in them with my internet. I never used Check Mii Out either. I did use Nintendo Channel and Everybody Votes, so it's a shame to see them go. Though this was predictable with the Wii Mini being an offline console, and that these channels weren't on the Wii Menu of Wii U.

I never used both when I had my wii either in 2007, all I needed was my system and a copy of super mario galaxy and wii sports.

I actually really enjoyed the news channel, not for the news, but because of the way they all stacked up. What was so much fun.

I was expecting this. I'm sure eventually we won't be able to play games on Wi-fi. I'll miss playing SSBB with my online friends.
