SEGA has finally confirmed that the company will be releasing Castle of Illusion staring Mickey Mouse this summer. The game, which is being rebuilt from the ground up by SEGA Studios Australia, will offer “stunning visuals and new gameplay mechanics.”

Chris Olson, vice president of Digital Business at SEGA of America, said:

“The original Castle of Illusion was tremendously entertaining and has a well-deserved reputation as a SEGA classic. Castle of Illusion Featuring Mickey Mouse brings this great game to a new generation. Mickey is back and he looks fantastic.”

Here’s where things get a bit odd: Castle of Illusion is apparently coming to the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and Steam. There’s no word on a Wii U or PS Vita release, even though both platforms were included in official Brazilian classification ratings.

I'll get it for PSN anyway even if it does come to the Wii U.

It wouldn't make sense for it to not come out on the Wii U at all.

I think Sega let Nintendo announce this one. Otherwise, it would be really weird not seeing this one Wii U.

Not being announced for Wii U is kinda odd, but I'm sure it's coming. I mean, DuckTales is coming. Same devs too.

Not the same devs. WayForward is doing DuckTales HD and this remake is being done by Sega of Australia. Which I thought was closed down earlier?

Am I the only one here who would have prefered a Land of Illusion remake? -_-

Right. Sega and Capcom. Well then, I'm not really anticipating this much now.

To be fair, I heard the original director is behind this remake.

It's strange how there's no Wii U release. It can't exactly be pointed at the Wii U sales problems and whatnot, since the Vita isn't getting it either. Even stranger when the same publisher plans on releasing DuckTales HD on Wii U, a game with a similar revamp premise. But, it's not much of a concern for me. I'll just pick it up on PS3 if it doesn't come to the Wii U.

So you are saying you thought Sega of Australia went down under?

Well this is disappointing news.

Well, before the game was even shown, Sega announced that it's Australian division would close dow-

Oh I see what you did there.

All I need is this along with QuackShot and I can die in peace.

I hope this comes to the Wii U and the only reason no announcement for the console has been made is because Nintendo want to announce it themselves. That's just wishful thinking.

If not, I'll just get it on PC.

Why?

Because I refuse to buy digital content on the Wii U until Nintendo change their backward and archaic policy of tying it to the console rather then the account.
