2 generations of handheld systems from Nintendo have used the "DS" brand, and it has proven to be a very successful console with both its iterations. Will Nintendo move on from dual screens next generation? If not, when do you think so? The "Game Boy" brand lasted for two generations, will it be the same?
I personally love the "DS" brand and wouldn't mind another generation following this one. Ask me again at the end of the 3DS' life time, though, my opinion may change.

I thought the Game Boy was three generations (Gameboy, Gameboy Colour, Gameboy Advance).

I'm pretty sure Nintendo will be continuing their dual screen trend, but it won't be called a DS. They'll add something or other to change it. I'd be interested in something like a Nintendo Vita, but how would you go about BC?
Some people always have a cellphone on them. I'm so awesome I always have a 3DS.

I don't know - I mean yeah having 2 screens can give more gaming options, but I think the PSP and now Vita are capable handhelds without the 2 screens. I think we will see something different for sure. The DS brand wasn't originally intended to take over the GameBoy brand, but live along with it. It didn't really turn out that way though.

Yeah, I suppose it matters what way you look at it, I considered the Game Boy Color to be an upgrade (though it did have totally different game carts).

Calling their next handheld "Gameboy Genesis" would be a marketing marvel in my opinion.

Actually, I think the next one they make might be very alike to the vita but maybe with a 3D screen? Power wise though, probably a little more powerful than the vita.
But Nintendo is strange, nobody would have expected the wii to be how it was, so I'm probably wrong.

I remember years ago reading a GamesMaster magazine from the UK, it was just after the GBA SP launched when rumors were flying of the next Nintendo handheld, they said it would have 7 screens, I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair
