Do I regret getting the Wii U at launch? Yes and no. If I had waited until LEGO City Undercover launched I could have gotten one a lot cheaper. However that is with hindsight, I know if I HADN'T got it at launch I would have been really frustrated at not having it as obviously I wouldn't have known how little I would use it until now. I wasn't to know back then that I wouldn't like ZombiU or that a ton of games would get delayed.
Do I regret owning one now? Not at all.
I partly bought the Wii U because I knew it would play Wii games over HDMI looking a lot nicer than the Wii does over component. For that alone I would get a Wii U, although if I were to buy one today I might have chosen the cheaper model, but I really wanted a black one not white.

Yeah me too. I sometimes wish I had just waited until April to buy it when all the games and the console itself are much cheaper, there are more games to choose from, and the console's issues are all pretty much fixed.
So I would say it is worth buying now.
This is exactly what I feel. I regret buying it at launch, just because there were problems with the amount of games and what I wanted to play, as well as the OS, and everything like that. It's been a rough launch, you may have heard that once or twice.
But now, there are games coming out, and I find myself wanting too many of them. My wallet can't handle this! With that, the fact that Nintendo will be releasing some big guns by the end of the year like Mario Kart and Pikmin, there will now be Virtual Console games, the loads of Indie games that are in development, the constant updating and improvement of Miiverse, the great system update we just received as well of the one we will be getting over the summer, and that fact that I'm sure you could get it for a great deal nearly everywhere right now... I think now is an optimal time to buy it
