Perhaps the same thing that prevents the 3DS from breaking when dropped? Here's a thing though, it is possible to drop it and the screen can(and will likely) receive damage from impact. And yes, my cuzin bought a table from Motorola(spell correctly?) and he dropped and it broke the screen(HUGE crack down the center and half the screen was black, and he did show me it, and I DID LMAO!) so inless Nintendo thinks of some protection, you out $100 for a new controller which people would not like.
You are forgetting that this is Nintendo, and they don't toy around when it comes to their product's durability.

but if they're talking about you taking your controller over to your friends house to play on his Wii U, some sort of transport sleeve would be nice.

These 2 things seem like they'd be likely on a WiiU controller, even though the screen protector would be sold seperatelyI can see their being a wrist strap, and a screen protector. Any thing else thank can protect from scratches or whatever is seeable.

Games that refuse to use Gameplay effectively to do anything are like films that refuse to use cinematography in film to do anything.

Actually, the Wii U controller's screen is far more impact-resistant than a tablet's or a smartphone's. As it uses resistive rather than capacitive technology, it has a soft, plastic, transparent touchscreen over the display screen. Your typical multitouch screen, on the other hand, requires a piece of glass in order to work properly. Here's a thing though, it is possible to drop it and the screen can(and will likely) receive damage from impact. And yes, my cuzin bought a tablet from Motorola(spell correctly?) and he dropped and it broke the screen(HUGE crack down the center and half the screen was black, and he did show me it, and I DID LMAO!) so inless Nintendo thinks of some protection, you out $100 for a new controller which people would not like.
And when it comes to durability, plastic >>>>>> glass. Just compare your 3DS's touchscreen to the tablet's - that's what you're in for with the Wii U.
