I won't need a strap, but I will be purchasing a screen protector.

I think it might come with a strap, I will also be buying a screen protector.
Another question that comes to mind is if Nintendo wont be selling Wii U controllers what if I break mine? Will I have to buy a new Wii U? D:

Here's a thing though, it is possible to drop it and the screen can(and will likely) receive damage from impact. And yes, my cuzin bought a tablet from Motorola(spell correctly?) and he dropped and it broke the screen(HUGE crack down the center and half the screen was black, and he did show me it, and I DID LMAO!) so inless Nintendo thinks of some protection, you out $100 for a new controller which people would not like.

Perhaps the same thing that prevents the 3DS from breaking when dropped?
You are forgetting that this is Nintendo, and they don't toy around when it comes to their product's durability.

I'm sure it'll be sturdy enough,
but if they're talking about you taking your controller over to your friends house to play on his Wii U, some sort of transport sleeve would be nice.

I don't think there will be any covers that will come with the controller. There might be covers that you can buy as an accessory, which could come in a variety of colors and materials. Who knows, they might even make a case for it to go in when your not using it.

I can see their being a wrist strap, and a screen protector. Any thing else that can protect the Wii U from scratches or whatever is seeable to help protect the Wii U.

These 2 things seem like they'd be likely on a WiiU controller, even though the screen protector would be sold seperately

Actually, the Wii U controller's screen is far more impact-resistant than a tablet's or a smartphone's. As it uses resistive rather than capacitive technology, it has a soft, plastic, transparent touchscreen over the display screen. Your typical multitouch screen, on the other hand, requires a piece of glass in order to work properly.

And when it comes to durability, plastic >>>>>> glass. Just compare your 3DS's touchscreen to the tablet's - that's what you're in for with the Wii U.

Yes, I'm almost sure they'll release some sort of protection, because the kids with small hands will drop it often.

I don't think it needs protection, you don't move it around so suddenly of as fast as you would a Wii-Mote.
