I don't have a WiiU yet and have no real plans to get one at the moment, but I do have a Wii with quite a few VC games downloaded. So I was wondering if I do get a WiiU if I will be able to transfer all of the games? For example I have Final Fantasy II and III (IV and VI) along with the three Donkey Kong Country games. I know that the FF games won't be coming to the WiiU for quite a while and I know that the DKC games were recently taken off the VC. Do either of these matter or would they still transfer no sweat?

Everything you have downloaded already on your Wii will transfer, and what you don't have on it can be downloaded from the wii shop channel in wii mode of the wii u.

None of the games will be available outside of wii mode though, so if you're expecting to play them on your gamepad, forget that.

The Wii to Wii U transfer clones your entire Wii identity onto the SD card and then copies it over to the Wii U.  For all intents and purposes, it becomes your Wii.  The only difference from the real thing is the lack of Gamecube support (if your Wii had that).

That is why it doesn't have to do anything to the stuff already on the SD card, stuff that is DRM locked to your Wii, because it IS your Wii once its done.

Why?

What exactly is the point of having two consoles, two sensor bars, two inputs on the TV taken, having to keep re-syncing your controllers between two consoles, having a worse picture, when you can avoid all that using a single console?
