This might be answered somewhere else, but I haven't been able to find it - so forgive me if it has. :0) Does anyone know if there is talk of linking games to your actual Nintendo account? I was bummed when I got my Wii U after reading you could transfer from your Wii to your Wii U assuming/hoping that it would just be linked to my username. (Mainly because my Wii got fried some how and so all the games I had already bought are gone.) I realize this is how the company(s) make money by making you buy their game for all platforms rather than linking said game to every platform. I just misread when I was looking over the Wii U.

Cheers,

No.

In order to transfer your wii's data and purchases over to wii u you need to have it working.

Unfortunatly no, but it's what everyone who has a brain want's. I don't no why Nintendo won't do it, it's our hard earned cash we are forking over to download these things.

You all aren't thinking logically about this, If games were linked to accounts then you could easily just log on to your friends Wii U and instal your games on it. Thus they are losing money,

Its got nothing to do with thinking logically. Sony and Microsoft have been tying content to the account for years and its been just fine. There is absolutely no reason not to do it. If anything it makes the content more consumer friendly. I have gone through three Xbox 360s and if the content wasn't tied to my account it would have been a real pain getting it back if possible at all. Microsoft forces you to go online to use the same content on another Xbox to verify it is the same account that Is accessing it unless you transfer your purchases to the new Xbox in which case the content is deleted from the old one. Sony use to limit it to five accounts but has now reduced this I believe. In any case it makes no sense to tie content to the hardware. What happens when your console breaks or you upgrade to a newer one.

Backup your data, then if it breaks get it repaired and you will still have all your saved data on the pendrive.

Nintendo doesn't normally make upgrades to home consoles, so you don't need to worry about that.

Where is the logic in that. Backing up data is pretty much pointless considering its tied to the original console. If it breaks outside of warranty its likely going to be cheaper to buy a new console then get the broken one repaired. Plus why should I have to back up my data in the first place. As for revisions to the console there is always the possibility of a new model with a faster and/or larger capacity internal storage or different colours/limited editions. It makes no sense what so ever tying the content to the console. It should be tied to the account.

If you're console is fried that call Nintendo and they should be able to work something out.

Well, a while back my Wii died after the warrenty, and they charged me $80 and kept my save data intact. They will do anything to try to keep your saves.
