That sounds pretty ridiculous and even I can't defend it. Oh well, at least it's not as bad as constantly online required. I can manage.

It always has to have an internet connection, but it only does routine call home once per day.  It will also check whenever you install a new game, whenever you start a game, etc.

you folks do realize... that all these games will stop working in the imminent near future right?

And im not talking about ms servers go down, or are under maintenence so your box cant verify and locks you out from your games for a day or two.

You dont own these games. You dont even the system. You buy permission to use it. When this generation is over, you will never be able to play these games you bought but dont own, on the system you bought but dont own, ever again. It will become a brick.

The program officially cut off access to accounts on 7 July 2001. The player's Security Module, which had an internal Real-Time Clock, ceased to allow DIVX functions after 30 days without a connection to the central system

I doubt Microsoft could even consider pulling something like that, but I can't rule out the possibility.

Have you been listening to what theyve been saying? This, exactly, is their end goal.

No more next gen sales being canabalized by lingering interest in cheap systems. As soon as the switch is flipped, you HAVE to buy Xbox two, because xbox one will no longer work.

I can say one thing with complete and utter confidence.  I was planning on buying one of the other two consoles as a secondary, and Microsoft just made my choice SO EASY!

You are a perfect customer ^^

So I'm interested in the Xbox One. Sue me. Everyone has different opinions.

Even if the Xbox One didn't have these silly requirements, you people wouldn't have purchased it either way. You'll find something else to complain about.

Im actually a huge ms studios fan. I love my xbox (not 360, xbox 1 good version) it was king console of its gen for me. Prized console front and center of my trio.

If you check my post history you will find before this reveal i was all but ready to ditch ps4 for 720. I was done with sony (and im a HUUUUUGE sce fan, just not dudebro only sce)

But this... This anti consumer bull$%^@ can not be supported. It just cant, they cant.... companies cant be shown that they can get away with this. Because it wont stop here.
