This one I would have thought one or another consolemaker would come up with. Yet, they didn't.
Why do they all the time switch to new hardware which isn't compatible with one another. Especially in a field where tech reinvents itselfs so fast....the current next gen consoles will be old news even faster than the old ones where.
If I look at Apple. They create 1 platform iOS. They make it so that it works with telephones, tablets and Tv's. Once the hardware is upgraded all games keep working. The newest games will use the new tech, the older ones judt don't. But the games continue to work. Even 3 gens backward.
If I was Nintendo, I would have created an OS that would be compatible with 3ds, WiiU and more. Than when new hardware is at hand just deliver new versions. Make the games work on multiple gens.

Ok, I read that a few months ago. But they never mentioned the stuff I wrote down. I hope they do though. Just imagine to simply play all of the 3ds gamecataloque on your WiiU with upscaled graphics, physics. And vice versa

At an investor Q&A soon after Iwata stated that they're not making a cloud console or merging the two devisions into one box, but making it easier to cross-develop between the two.
