Square Enix released a new E3 trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII that showed some new stuff, including a new release date. The game is now set for release in North America on March 11th, 2014, and in Europe on March 14th, 2014.

Square also showed a new Ultimate Box edition for the XIII series, but so far its Japan only and PS3 only. They also showed a special edition FF XIII PS3 controller, also, Japan only.

YAY! Now I can actually get it! With all these darn 3DS games this year, I was worried I wouldn't be able to get the games I want... I also now will get 2 Square RPGs really close to each other, Bravely Default, and this... Next year is going to rock my RPG loving soul! :D

Pretty much, but they didn't want us to know that it went to 3... kinda like Valve with Half Life 2 Episode 1 and 2.

That slowdown with just a few characters on screen looks like it can become a real pain.

This is the third installment in the world of Final Fantasy XIII. There was Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and now Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

And if you want my opinion, I loved Final Fantasy XIII, its the most mixed rated Final Fantasy game from fans of Final Fantasy. So the only real way to know if you'll like it or not is to actually play it...

I played ffx13 for 25 hours. It was atrocious. I bought a PS3 SOLELY for the purpose of getting ff13. I'm not going to get into it here, but the characters, story, gameplay, basically everything about the game OTHER than the graphics (woohoo) was sub par for a final fantasy game. Don't even get me started on the 20 hour straight-a-way.

I thought it was awesome, but different strokes for different folks you know.

Great characters in that game, you got a supposed tough bi+ch who gets PO'd over everything, an emo lookin puss who wants to kill a guy helping him because his practically condemned mother decided to take up arms and defend herself, a guy that whines constantly because he's too old, and a moron who takes a load of abuse and is happy to take it.  The only tolerable characters were from a different world.  The linearity gives a new definition to rpgs.  If Star Fox is considered a rail shooter, games like FF X and FFXIII should be dubbed "rail rpgs."

I don't understand why people actually like this.  And why the hell is it so popular among women and gay men?  It makes me think there is something wrong with them.

I find the name 'Lightning Returns' ironic. When the hell did Lightning ever leave so that she could return? They've been shoving that character down our throats for over four years now. SE has a serious hard-on for one of their most blah characters.

If you listen to the trailer, she has been asleep for hundreds of years, and returns for the end of the world.

That's great, you might have noticed though I was talking about from the player's perspective.

Sorry, I didn't gather that from your comment, I thought it was more of a general statement. My apologies.

Final Fantasy XIII deserved the critical ratings it got. It is quite enjoyable for some and there is fun to be had, but unlike something like Final Fantasy VII, it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Well Final Fantasy VII isn't everyone's cup of tea either. No game is going to be like that for everyone. Even Ocarina of Time, Egoraptor doesnt like that game.

Yes but some games are cult classics, like Final Fantasy VII and arguably Zelda Ocarina of Time. 90% of gamers can play them and enjoy them. Something like Final Fantasy XIII isn't, it's just not a very solid game. So while one can say that it actually is a great game and they might see the good in it more than other people and overlook the bad, they might sometimes take some heat for it too.

Another game in the XIII world, how long are they gonna milk this bi+ch. Lol Just joking, I haven't even played any FF after X. I am interested in playing them though and I will grab XIII eventually when I get a job.
