I thought this would be cool. This is a thread where we discuss anything pertaining to the 3DS. Whether our experience or opinions on the hardware, or a game on the 3DS.

No signing up is needed. We just discuss things.

As I said in a status update, I'm getting a 3ds soon. For the second time. I was going to get a 3DS XL but then Half mentioned the problem with the speakers. I studied up and learned that the speakers of the XL aren't quite as good as the normal 3DS', many people on the internet are saying this in one form or another. Not to mention, I will save a little money getting the standard 3DS.

I'm still trying to decide between Fire Emblem: Awakening and Animal Crossing: New Leaf and I'm leaning toward Fire Emblem. On the one hand, people here will want me to get Animal Crossing so they can play with me or explore my town or however it works (have never played an Animal Crossing game, by the way). On the other, Fire Emblem is a game that may potentially become rare and expensive. The Wii Fire Emblem game now runs about $85 on Ebay it's so hard to find. The second reason I'm leaning toward Fire Emblem is because of the shorter length. It means that I can play this game and still have more time to play my backlog of other games.

But we'll see.

Digital download version of Fire Emblem: Awakening will always be available, so you won't have to worry about paying any more than current retail price (if you don't necessarily feel like you have to have the cartridge/box/etc).

Well the 3DS XL comes with a 4 gig SD card so you could always just download Fire Emblem if it ever did become rare.

I might get the 3ds standard though. How large is the Fire Emblem digital game?

I would say get Animal Crossing because it will last you longer, its cheaper and a lot of people on here will be playing it so.. :)

Actually, Animal Crossing is perfect for this too. It's not the kind of game where you want to play only that for hours on end daily. Most likely you'll play for two hours tops a day, with plenty of extra time to spare for your backlog.

Alright, I'm convinced. Animal crossing it is :D.

Also, I find out how much memory the digital Fire Emblem game takes. A little over 1GB. I might be able to manage that.

I have no idea but you can get a 16 gb class 10 SD card for dirt cheap. It's what I'd suggest if you're planning on going to be buying a combination of digital and physical.

Yeah, $11. I'll focus on that once I need it.

You may have already decided on Animal Crossing, but I decided I would give my opinion.

I would get Fire Emblem. It's a really good game, the story is great, characters, music, the combat is a lot of fun, overall an amazing experience. It's the only game I've played through immediately after beating it once, so I racked up 130+ hours. It's a lot of fun to pair up your units, recruit their children, etc.

Though, my first Animal Crossing game will be New Leaf, so I guess my opinion is a bit invalid.

It's 8579 blocks. So that's almost half of a 4 gig SD card.

I got both Animal Crossing New Leaf and Fire Emblem Awakening. Both are great games and one should honestly get both. But if I had to make a choice, I would choose Fire Emblem Awakening... it's more goal-based and actiony, in my opinion.

I had an original 3DS for 4 weeks, I hated it and sold it, it just felt cheap and tacky, not to mention the whole upper half wobbles on the hinge, brought an XL back in Feb and I'm soooooo glad I did, it feels sturdy, nice, comfortable not to mention the top half doesn't wobble like it's gonna fall off, also I find the XL speakers much louder and better than the original, I have perfect hearing and I struggled hearing the original, also original DS games on the original 3DS looked like thier colours had been washed out, they looked very pale, on the XL the colour is back and it looks ever so vibrant, I dunno, I just fell in love with the thing ever since I got it, very much looking forward to playing Pokemon X on it :D gonna be awesome.

I actually ended up getting a 3DS XL after all. I'm glad I did because the screen is just the right size. I wouldn't say the speakers are better than the original though. The original one I had had great sound and many on the internet complain about the quality of the XL's sound compared to the standard 3DS'. Also, the top half on my 3DS XL wobbles.

Strange indeed, mine don't.
