What do you think it's going to be? What "Unique" artstyle can you come up with? Would you refuse to buy the Zelda game over the art style? I know a lot of Zelda fans refused to buy Wind Waker because of the art style at first. So I know for some visuals do matter!

 

For me it could be one of many things

 

- Skyward Sword HD - This style is similar to what you see in smash bros, it's not ultra real, nor is it cartoony. It's like Bioshock Infinite with a Nintendo twist. Very high detail, it just isn't "realistic" While personally I love what they have done with Link in Smash Bros. I very much doubt we'll see it in Zelda U, only because the art style is too close to Skyward Sword and Eiji Anouma said it'd be a new and unique art style

 

- Patchwork/Yarn - A lot of Zelda fans hate it, I personally love it. Especially in Zelda Battle Quest. The kinds of level designs you could build off of this are vast. Imagine having the great gameplay of open over-world, millions of side quests, a rich and detailed interactive sandbox game, huge and creative dungeons, but it's in the style of Zelda Battle quest, but at full 1080p 60fps, rich next gen textures, lighting and effects. Would you be put off? Personally no, although I'd love to see the sword that Link carries to look like super realistic metal, almost like it was forged from a pair of tailors scissors. For me this is a likely candidate as Nintendo seem to be "yarnafying" all their popular franchises one game at a time. However the only thing pointing against this being the next artwork in the franchise is that it's an art style used before in other Nintendo games, so may not be classed as "unique" enough

 

- Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks very much how tangled looked. It allows for super high HD detail, it's not quite a traditional cartoon, but not quite realistic. Personally I'd love to see a Zelda look like something similar to the film Tangled. This is my personal favourite, so of course I'm hoping for it. However will they go for it? I'd say it's quite likely as it matches the safe zone between unique and usual.

 

- Other. Who knows, will it be a Hyrule made of candy? Plasticine? Wind up toys? Metal, Cogs and Gears? Origami? The possibilities are endless.

Keep it simple and have something similar to Skyward Sword HD. I know they are trying to change the series up a bit but I think they just need to do that with the gameplay, not with the art style. So I wouldn't want anything too different to what we've seen before. Definitely not a patchwork/yarn style like the one from Nintendoland, that would look stupid in a full zelda game.

Although Skyward Sword HD would be great I still don't mind

Personally I would like a Twilight style hd game.

Maybe something Borderlands-esque mixed with Skyward Sword mixed with a bit of TP.

I want something like Twilight princess mixed with nothing else. I think it will be like a darker colored skyward sword, which is really dissapointing to me. Really, really dissapointing.
If it is patch work, I am going to sell my wii u and go hide in a cave far away where I never have to see the horrible game. It would utterly destroy my very existence.

You wont be getting TP, it's already confirmed, it will be unique and new, and NOT realistic looking

Visuals are 1/3 of a game, gameplay is 1/2, and story is 1/6 IMO. And I know it's not going to be TP graphics, and no Zelda game has ever been realistic, TP was partially cel shaded, it was just dark colors and gritty. I liked it. I like the darker Zelda's and I hope they make another one. If it had a patched art style it would completely DESTROY emersion and that can't be done in a Zelda game, or it destroys gameplay and ruins the overall feel o the game.

If it had a patched art style it would completely DESTROY emersion and that can't be done in a Zelda game, or it destroys gameplay and ruins the overall feel o the game.

 

A lot of people said that about Wind Waker, now nearly everyone loves it. If an entire world is consistent visually the immersion then works. Personally I'd far prefer the visuals style with Link in Smash Bros, however I'd certainly not knock the next Zelda game if it were in a crazy out there art style. I love the Zelda Battle Quest. It's level design is is imaginative and I can really imagine with some great, non gimmicky gameplay (such as keeping the gamepad gimmicks to a minimum), and I can imagine it being great. You could have a stop-go animation feel to it with some wildlife being made from origami etc.

 

Ideally though as I said I'd prefer the Skyward Sword HD, or Pixar artstyle, or the artstyle that those people did with the fake Majora's Mask HD video. That blew my mind.

 

In fact screw it I'm holding out for THAT art-style

Think : we have already seen it. Link in smash bros trailer looked diffrent to me. So it'll be that link in a game similar to skyrim.
