I do not have a link right at this moment, but if I can find the data I was looking at yesterday then I will edit this post and add it in.

Update: Found the links. Added them at the bottom of the post.

This data is really worrying me, but maybe it shouldn't? I've been trying to figure out what it means, but it could mean nothing at all. June, the month of E3, when Nintendo unveiled it's future "killer apps" saw a sales decline for Wii U units in Japan. Japan!! Of all places, Nintendo's homeland looks to be falling out of love with Nintendo.

Or... maybe I'm reading too much into it. What do you think? Do declining sales in Japan mean anything at all?

The Data:

As you can see, sales are decreasing and *not* increasing after E3.

I think you're reading too much into it. If the Wii U games start coming out and it's still selling horribly, then I'd be worried!

What japan oriented games did Nintendo show anyway?

To be honest i`m surprised it`s doing better in Japan than in Europe. There really is nothing coming for Wii U that japanese gamers like and the indie scene there isn`t as bright as in the US and Europe - I think you need a publisher or something.

I dont think japan cares too terribly much about e3.

Pretty sure wii u has the same problem worldwide, not enough compelling software.

Honestly, if i wasnt a launch always buyer because of my disposable income, i probably wouldnt be picking up a wii u until later this year, or more likely, until X came out.

Looks like game and wario was a bit of a dissapointment though. Seemed like something japan would love.

I will say this though, the splash screens, are pure glory.
