"that's just the VGChartz numbers, doesn't include many retailers and doesn't include digital at all. There was no quote, the author of the article made something up that seemed plausible to him and fit his narrative enough to get clicks. His editor in chief is happy, the guy brought views to the site, and profit, journalistic integrity be damned."
I disagree. I think this guy may be making an argument based on quotes and facts - but I think he made some mistakes in not quoting certain sources.
Not everybody who writes about gaming news does so for a living, and not everyone is a professional reporter who studied the subject at a university.
It's clear that he is writing from his own personal views, and I don't think he expected everyone to agree. Of course, if he is making details up as he goes... self-explanatory. However, it looks as if he may be right, if his argument stands.
His argument seems to be:
1. ZombiU actually sold fairly well, for a survival horror genre game with a low [Wii U] console userbase.
2. ZombiU was a low budget title.
Conclusion: Something doesn't make sense. How did Ubisoft not make a profit?
