You know the old saying 'You buy a Nintendo console for their exclusives.'

I say yes. Their exclusives gain more and more attention than 3rd party on a Nintendo system if its multiplatform, or C___block them, they're just so good and better developed than other top 3rd party games and franchises loved by millions and millions of fans out there because its creative imagination that doesn't involve you in first person wielding a gun. Creative and lovable characters that everybody just loves and that other kids of today will hopefully grow up with like others from the 80's and 90's. For example I would pay money far up the @$$ for Monolith Soft's X than Lighting Returns.

But If you want to see more multiplats on Wii U, buy the 3rd party games for the system. Simple as that. Ubisoft, WarnerBros & I think Activision is giving you Nintendo Wii U owners a chance, if it doesn't reach their expectations, stick to only Nintendo games on the system.

But in reality, you really, REALLY Want this:

Definitely. It's been like this almost since the beginning. I would definitely buy more third-party, but the problem is third-party games that seem to almost always be M-rated or REALLY stretch the T-rating. Can't say I really like those games, therefore, I don't buy them.

I've been playing pretty much nintendo-only my entire life, but for a few games(kingdom hearts, okami). Nintendo games always seem to outshine other 3rd party games. I also have Scribblenauts on wii u(although I kind of want to trade it in or something, as it doesn't have much replayability).

I can agree that they overshine. They are very well made games and people are usually talking about and getting excited for their exclusives rather than third party.

Well I personally don't rank any Nintendo game this current gen in my top 5 this generation of consoles. About 2 or 3 of those games are 3rd party games which would be Fallout 3 and the MassEffect series. So I don't think their games would overshadow 3rd party games if they got them, in fact the best wiiu game so far has been a 3rd party game.

They easily do, and most 3rd party games can't compete with them.

people knock the Wii last gen, but almost all of Nintendos games were, i think, some of the best games of last gen mixing xbox and ps3.

3rd parties need to step it up, and publishers need to lay-off the pressure of their demands over quality. publishers are half the problem, but lets remember, games are a form of art, and everyone that works at a game company isn't equally talented or innovative. for some people, it really is just a job to get paid.

i look at people like nintendo, naughty dog, platinium games, atlus to name a few and you can see the passion in comparison to some of these others.

It would help if all of the 3rd party games released so far wern't half a$$ed ports of 2-3 year old games.

Pretty obvious. Not only Nintendo's games, but even Xbox's and PS3's exclusives outshine most 3rd party games.

I think it's not true

I mean Nintendo games are great they make great games.

But the n64 prodded great success to third parties who actually made something great on the system, like taking advantage of the hardware for Turok, Quarterback Club, etc. Factor Five also. Same thing with GameCube.

If Metal Gear games were on Nintendo consoles, they'd sell like crazy for example. Marvel vs. capcom, street fighter, a NEW Deus Ex game (not an old, already market saturated port), final fantasy, etc.

The wii was a different story because it was underpowered and the motion controls weren't something every developer was excited about.

The wii u is appropriately powerful, returns to a traditional, yet enhanced control scheme, and is ready to host great games. The problem now seems to be developer alliances.

Yes, even though Playstation have some really good exclusives that I'd like to play on the Wii U too, Nintendo is easily the best company when it comes to first-party franchises, not only in terms of quantity but quality too. That's why, despite having a PS3, I had to buy a Wii U or else I knew I was gonna be missing out on some great games coming out this year and 2014.

In most cases, yes. Nintendo games are some of the best games every generation.

No wonder games like Mario, Mario and Wii Sports sell in the millions and tens of millions.

Not that 3rd party games aren`t as good. They are. Just looking at GTA and CoD and you will see that.

Turok on n64. Useless knowledge remembered.

The good Turoks were made by iguana entertainment, or, going by its lesser known name, acclaim studios austin.

Oh man those were the days, back when acclaim not only didnt suck, they were awesome.

Anyways, founder jeff spangenberg got tired of acclaims clueless publishers crapping up his games, so he left acclaim (leaving them the turok ip which they swiftly ran into the ground with garbage games) took some of his best men from the turok projects, and founded a little studio in austin texas called Retro studios.

Which is now owned by... Nintendo.

I think it isn't that third party developed games are outshined by Nintendo's own developed games, but rather that the audience Nintendo has has little to no interest in third party games. Nintendo's fans like certain types of games, and third party developers don't cater to that marker. Some, like Sega, do.

If I'm getting a game that's available for multiple systems, then I'd like it run on the system that gets me the best graphics. Which at the moment is my Wii U (my laptop is lousey), but if I could afford a Xbox One then I can probably stretch to a proper gaming computer, AND save money on games (steam sales, cheap indies).

I got the Wii U for it's exclusives. I don't think I'll ever consider another Xbox or PlayStation.

I would clarify it more by saying a large percentage of wii and wii u owners are casual gamers, family gamers who aren't interested in the hardcore more mature, action based gaming experience and other owners own multiple consoles and will buy multiformat games on consoles with more powerful hardware. Not much point paying full price for a crippled/cut down wii version of a game when you buy the full experience on ps3 or 360. Ultimately the same is true of wii u. Even if the wii u gets versions of ps4 and xbox one games most will buy those games for either ps4 or xbox one even if they own a wii u. Its a completely logical purchasing decision. Ultimately the wii u is about nintendo games and exclusive games.
