This just further proves my theory that Quantic Dream was originally going to be a movie producer, but they couldn't make it and just hijacked the video game market instead
"From the beggining, games have been about emotion"
No one who makes a quote like that deserves to be called a video game developer. What the flying Wii?

I really don't think that's a fair assessment. Just because they view games outside the boundary of whats normal and think we can have real human emotion in them, doesn't make them any less of a game developer.

Heavy Rain was terrible IMO, highly overrated. The writing was awful, the acting was unconvincing, I didn't even slightly feel sorry for the lead as he just seemed like an idiot. The game was nothing more than a basic adventure game with uber pretty graphics and QTE, games were doing that sort of thing in the early PC CD-ROM days using plain full motion video, so it wasn't all that an original concept at all.
I really tried to like the game (I forced myself to play it to the end of the story) but it was painfully boring. Nobody is questioning that they can make a very pretty graphics engine, but the game and story underneath was shallow and boring. Anyone who watched me playing the game was bored to tears. If it had been remotely movie quality it would have been entertaining to watch other people play.
I am really hoping Beyond: Two Souls is more of a "game", but I'm not holding my breath. Certainly the idea of expanding Dark Sorceror into a game is worrying as it was VERY impressive, but I didn't find it particularly funny.
That said, I hope they put Heavy Rain on Playstation Plus at some point so I can give it a second chance. Although I do not expect it to play any better.

I'm curious. How old was the average age of the people watching you? Me and like 4 of my friends all trading Heavy Rain between us and we all loved it. We're all late twenties to low thirties btw. I will say though that playing it more than once shows the obvious flaws of the game however.
On topic, I don't think every game has to be the same interactive experience. It's cool once in a while to have a game where it's a totally different experience. What was that old game with david bowie in it? It was like an rpg where if you died, your soul would move to another person nearby. It was pretty weird, but a cool experience.

To me Quantic Dreams open the doors for video game story telling. I don't think their the best but they are very creative and their style of gameplay is inspiring others like the walking dead and la noire( which both are considered good if not great).
Still at the topic at hand, I don't know what they can do with this but I seem to believe the same was said about Heavy Rains tech demo some years ago and that turned out great.
