I actually enjoy it quite a lot, single-player and multi-player. But the best ones are Mario Chase, Luigi's Ghost Mansion and Animal Crossing: Sweet Day - which are all multiplayer only, so I can see why people would not enjoy it a huge amount without people to play it with.
Why is NintendoLand panned as bad?

I think it's a fun game for single player and multiplayer. It strikes a good balance between casuals and more experienced gamers. Casuals can simply play the games and mess around with them. While the more involved players can go for all the stamps, trophies, high scores, getting coins for the items, and beating the single player games. I also think it shows off the Gamepad fairly well. I think it has it's ups and downs in terms of showing off the Gamepad, in those areas is where Game and Wario sometimes succeeds. I think all the mini games are fun, addicting, and have a fair bit of content to keep going back to them.

I personally like Nintendoland but its unfortunate that I can't play certain mini games by myself.
