I need a new TV for my room, as the one that I have now has a really small screen and is massive at the back (if you know what I mean, one of the really old ones XD ). So I've decided to to save up for a new TV!! ... But I don't know squat about TVs :( So if someone could help, I'd really appreciate it, thanks :)

Here's some of the things that I want:
HD
no more than 32" wide.
preferably one that I can hang up on my wall
and, of course, the plug thingies for consoles (lol, I told you I didn't know squat XD )

thanks in advance :)

I know a good bit of televisions. The ports are in all HDTV's. Now how much are you willing to spend.

50" Plasma Panasonic maybe...?

Plasma's good in many ways (best color and brightness IMO). It's just that plasma TVs takes a bit more electricity. But it's worth it IMO.

That TV doesn't even support 1080p.
But it's really cheap.

It's a little hard to assess, seeing as I don't even have a price or size range to work with, though this TV has an excellent quality to price ratio.

I don't mind what the price is, as long as its worth it ;) ports...???

50" Plasma Panasonic maybe...?

Plasma's good in many ways (best color and brightness IMO). It's just that plasma TVs takes a bit more electricity. But it's worth it IMO.

So plasma is better??

If you are into that much detail than go ahead. Is the one you want a flat panel

I dont mind, really :P as long as it can go on my wall XD

Oh, btw, I'm in england, so I don't wanna order it off an american site.

The width of my wall is 32" (yes, I've taken a bit off aswell :P ) so it can't be more than 32" wide (it doesn't matter if its a bit smaller) and I don't mind what the height is :) thanks for your help so far guys :D (though its not much atm XD )

I've got some questions (some...)
Does it matter what the brand is?
Whats the difference between LCD, LED and plasma?
Whats the difference between HD ready, 1080p HD and High Resolution?
Whats frequency (50hz, 100hz, 200hz, 400hz, 600hz, 800hz)?
On one of the frequencies (600hz) it says 600Hz sub-field, what does that mean?
Does it matter if it has built in internet or wi-fi?
What are HDMI ports?
Whats a built in freeview tuner?

There's my questions :P thanks again :D

Ah, i didn't know you were in England sorry about that.

Does it matter what the brand is?

It doesn't always matter on what brand you get. Sometime it shows if the tv may have good quality but not all the time. Some none name brand televisions are in good quality.

Whats the difference between LCD, LED and plasma?
LCD,LED, and maybe even plasma (not to familiar with it) is sharpness of the images. LED have a sharper image compared to LCD and a plasma has a sharper image compared to LED. More info on the topic:http://www.best-3dtv...a-vs-lcd-3d-tv/

Whats the difference between HD ready, 1080p HD and High Resolution?
1080p HD is the highest resolution avaible to the general public. High resolution on a tv is most likely referring to 720p. I haven't heard of HD ready tho.

Does it matter if it has built in internet or wi-fi?
You can decide if you want internet and wifi, because newer tv's are able to connect to the internet and browse around and even watching youtube videos. It is just a nice add-on.

What are HDMI ports?
HDMI ports are like those colored ports in older tv's where you connect your game systems, dvd player to watch stuff; but are for watching content in HD like if you hook-up a Bluray player to a tv through a HDMI port you can watch it in hd. http://www.cable-tra...o_tv_finder.php

Whats a built in freeview tuner?
In Britain a freeview tuner is a tuner to receive broadcast so basically something like a cable box, so one that has a built in tuner can receive a broadcast without using a box.

Whats frequency (50hz, 100hz, 200hz, 400hz, 600hz, 800hz)?
I do not know what you are asking but i advise you to get a tv that is at or higher than 100hz.

On one of the frequencies (600hz) it says 600Hz sub-field, what does that mean?
http://www.best-3dtv...eld-drive-mean/

I hope I help, and some others maybe able to answer better and give you more info than me.

Does it still have the normal ones aswell though? And is that what the green, red and blue wires are for on an xbox 360 ...Xbox360_Component_Cable.jpg

Thanks again (again) :D I'm a few steps closer to getting my TV ^_^

The frequencies you are talking about is the refresh rate. http://electronics.h...efresh-rate.htm
Basically refresh rates is how fast the tv changes it images. If a tv do not refresh it self you will see a still image, higher the refresh rate the less blurrier the image.
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/refresh-rate1.htm
The thing is, some people may not notice the difference of a 120 Hz refresh rate to a 200 Hz refresh rate

A modern HDTV has multiple ports including those so you can use it including hook it up a computer. Some tv's have the ability to wireless display their screens to the tv. Posted Image

If you want you could look up some tv that interest you and and everybody here can tell you what they think.

Outside advice: Get a TV that is NOT 3D. It's just not worth it.

This is another good one, since this is a LED the image will be sharp. However, I have heard that 1080p on a tv that size doesn't have much of an effect. If you could go to a store where you can see it first hand to see if you can tell the difference with a tv of the same size with 720p.

So you're saying that theres not much difference between 720p and 1080p?
