Retail giant Asda is no longer stocking Wii U consoles across its 555 retail outlets, dealing a new blow to Nintendo's bid to reverse the console's fortunes.

The grocer, Britain's second-largest, has suspended stock on all Wii U games, consoles and accessories across its stores, though eight products (all released during the Wii U's November 2012 launch) remain available on the Asda Direct website.

CVG understands that the company did not stock Nintendo's latest release, Pikmin 3, a widely acclaimed title which entered at number two on the UK all formats charts.

But everything is ok right? Everyone is saying sales are about to pick up right?

The ASDA near me, has never stocked Wii U games or hardware, it's just Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 content, and my local TESCO is the same.

Now watch the "fail" comments litter forums and blogs around the world. :(

I haven't heard that. But it doesn't really matter does it?

Also everything probably isn't ok at the moment. Asda has stopped selling wii u and wii u games (stupid move) but also right now third party aren't really doing much with the wii u.

That's not to say things will pick up but it will take time and effort from ninty

The owner of ASDA is obviously a hardcore gamer that doesn't approve of such childish lame games from Nintendo.

Yeah I've never even seen any Wii U games or consoles at any of my local Asdas or Tescos. Both are still selling online because that is probably the only place where they get any sales.

Between this, the Haters, Lazy/bias devs and Nintendo hating analyst like Patcher. It seems like the entire gaming industry is trying to make Nintendo fail.

Nintendo hating analyst like Patcher.

To be fair he does not just hate Nintendo. He likes them then hates them then likes then hates. Those opinions he has almost every week to a deadline on news sites to get views. Asda + devs + other stuff I agree but Patcher has been doing this for years, If anyone takes him seriously then I hope they don't buy a Wiiu as those people are too dumb for me to want to play them online.

Not calling you dumb Big Bowsy or insulting you, only Patcher and people who believe his tire act.

There's more

Update

Asda has also issued the following statement to CVG, which you can read below. Asda’s online website – at the time of writing – does not currently seem to be selling the Nintendo 3DS either, which is exceptionally unusual given it’s the best-selling hardware in the UK.

“Asda will stock [Wii U] games on a title by title merit basis as they come along through Asda Direct. We will continue to support Nintendo as a format holder partner.”

I take back what i said, i don't think bias played any part in this.

I bet Nintendo tried to push Wiiu by saying ASDA Walmart could not have the 3ds if they refused to sell the WiiU, looks like that idea failed!

...Not selling the 3DS. Well, there's definitely some idiocy going on here and it's not on Nintendo.

I've just heard that ASDA stopped stocking the Wii U and 3Ds because it was found to contain traces of horse meat.
