Ok. I have an ASUS rt-ac66u router. I am running my PS3 and Wii U off of it wirelessly. Does ok really for my applications so far. But would I be able to speed things up by buying another router and then running cables from the bridge to the devices?

As I typed this I realized my cable speed is only like 30-35Mbps so I am kind capped right there.

Is it possible to run a speed test on the Wii U to see if I am getting much less than that through the Wii U wireless?

Or maybe the Wii lan adapters will just stink anyway.

Really, any html5 based site will work.If you google something like 'html5 speed test' and you should have a selection.

Cool. Thank you for your quick and informative response. I will post my data tomorrow so we can all have a good laugh at my Wi-Fi speeds.

If you are curious my Wii U scored 10Mbps

My phone hit 35Mbps on the same Wi-Fi.

I have never met a HTML5 test that is remotely accurate personally, on Wii U, PC, or otherwise.

 

Its also known that the Wii U WiFi is capped at 65Mbit, although that should mean its "theoretically" capable of about half that depending on if your neighbors are using the same channel.  (being a radio signal, everyone on the same channel share the same pool of bandwidth even though they are different networks)

 

As I said in my WiFi thread, I would recommend using the LAN adapter and a good USB stick or external HDD for optimal download speeds.  But even with the LAN adapter I would be pleasantly surprised if you reached 35Mbit as in my experience the Wii U just doesn't go that fast.

Thanks for sharing. Going to see how the PS4 runs on the Wi-Fi before I go off buying 2nd routers. But s LAN adapter may be in my future.
