since reports there is a brick rate of 40-50% of ps4 on amazon.
do you guys think parents will be hesitant to buy a ps4 and buy a wii u or xboxone instead
I already kind of talked about the PS4s breaking, but I will still respond seriously...
The PS4 offers a different kind of experience than the Wii U, and so does the XBox One. If the breaking PS4s cause people to buy another system, it will be the XBox One.

Goes to show you how oblivious Americans tend to be when they open their wallets. They will believe what IGN tells them over what their eyes do.

First off, only an idiot would believe that number. People with bad consoles have the right to complain. But to assume people with working consoles are also all posting is silly. Numbers are skewed and Xbox fanboys will be posting bogus complaints sure.

No, they bought a PS4 on launch because they want sson'ys turkey inside their tight pre-teen assholes.
They don't want Nintendo's turkey at all.

Nintendo 3DS had the same problem with sales when it first came out, but then everything turned around when Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 came out. Just give the Wii U time, it'll be back on it's feet once we have Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros.

Nobody said this, the 40% figure isn't 100% is it? I'm not good at math though.

This... Where did this Sony fangirl persecution complex come from?
Nintendo have been receiving this rainbow from everyone for 10+ years and we don't have a persecution complex, yet Sony Wii up a launch with rainbowty quality boxes and you're all being persecuted for what? 2 days?
I'm simply replying that if someone wants a Sony game, they'll buy a Sony console, if someone wants a Nintendo game, they will buy a Nintendo console.Nollog, on 17 Nov 2013 - 6:13 PM, said:

I also alluded to the demographic the Sony PlayStation brand sells to, which is 10-18, with a large chunk of younger 20-29 year olds, sharing the market with Xbox and Nintendo, as well as pc share, as those are the ages of "gadget freaks", people who love to play around with new technological things.

Depends upon what you consider competition when the 3DS was entering market... yes the Vita is a handheld competitor but at the same time you had the emerging mobile market and the 3DS is still able to carve out it's own path and do well.

Exactly. By the time the Vita arrived it was already irrelevant, and smartphones were never really an issue with the 3DS, despite what analysts and journalists say. Unless you're trying to replicate DS numbers rather than GBA numbers. The only reason the 3DS will never sell as much as the DS did is not because gamers have smartphones now, it's because casuals who bought the system to play Brain Age already have those kinds of experiences on smartphones.
Believe me when I say this, the Wii U is not in the same situation as the 3DS once was. The 3DS had no competition whatsoever on that critical 2011 holiday season. The Wii U however, will have, and boy it's a strong one. Ironically, the 3DS won't be the one deeply affected by smartphones and tablets. If a system is going to suffer from the loss of the casual crowd it'll be the Wii U.

I think Nintendo's next handheld should run Android apps and also serve as a tablet or at least have more tablet/mobile like functionality. Nintendo already has some sort of an alliance with google with maps, so it might be a good fit.
I tend to agree with the notion that a 3ds did have competition from phones & tablets tho.

Do you realize how badly you'd be laughed at and knocked down for saying anything even remotely like that back in 2011 and early 2012? Everyone thought that the Vita was going to just absolutely destroy the 3DS in every sense. I had a 3DS back then and it's outlook was a whole lot like the Wii U's current one. There were big games on the horizon but they just hadn't arrived yet. The Wii U's competition right now is hype, and there is no way ANY system can compete against hype. The 3DS couldn't and the Wii U certainly can't.
If you really want to compare all three systems, then wait until the holidays are over and the hype factor has been dialed down a notch. Wait until all three systems have to stand on their own merits and games, instead of expectations and that new system shininess. I hear a lot of people talk about the next-gen consoles and their specs yet what I hear very little of, especially in a positive light, is the software.

I said it became irrelevant by the time it arrived. Yes, it initially sold well, but launch numbers will always be launch numbers. They mean nothing in the long run. Mediocre games ultimately killed it. The market simply didn't want a more expensive PSP.
The 3DS could and did compete with the pre-release Vita hype, otherwise its sales would still be abismal. You usually do that with good games.

First of all, I'm pretty sure the average joe parent probably doesn't even know the PS4 has hardware failures. The failure rate is pretty low from what I've seen/heard. Wii U does have the advantage in the fact that it will likely have better stock than PS4 and XBO. I think the sales will increase, how much, not sure.
