some how i knew they would have problems. You see how long it took them to fix the xbox 360. I guess we will be getting a xbox one slim pretty soon lol.

I've had no issues so far. I imagine this is a lot like the PS4, where the few with broken ones are all a lot louder than the ones sat actually playing their new games.

I've always wondered why companies don't use top loading drives on their consoles.
Aren't those types of drives cheaper and more reliable?
They also make it a pan to use the console in an AV setup, unless you either pull out the console all the time to access the disk tray or have a lot of airspace between the console and the next shelf.
Plus they're not in style. First it was disk trays, now it is slot drives.

Gamecube and psone.
It was a pain and sometimes the door didn't close all the way and little kids would snap dice on the ps one.
Slot loading is just better.
These companies just need to do more in house testing. Vs make the design and have a ton printed then be like oh crap these piece of plastic rubs and messes up the drive

I don't think this the same kind of situation. The red ring of death was clearly a design issue and lead to failure on a large scale in terms of console numbers. This is probably just a typical issue like any new product with moving parts. The PS4 has issues to although maybe not to the same extent.
