Too bad were not getting one...
I hate zombie stuff, but I liked this game. It was unique. The graphics were good enough/great to me. Would've wished for more than the bat. And sold good for a launch title. Ubisofts saying goodbye to the U...

Yes, fantastic game and it sold really well.

Nope it did not. It was unprofitable so they scrapped plans for a sequel.
It was a launch title on a un-advertised system, and trying something new and not a regular title. It got great sales for what it was working with. When people think Zombies they think of machine guns and unlimted ammo and arcade, they don't think of actually trying to survive.

Half a million sales for a niche horror title on a newly launched system is great. If it was unprofitable that is simply poor management on Ubisoft's side.
When you put it that way its sales definitely aren't bad considering; depends how you look at it. I suppose you're right about Ubisoft's management, I do recall their marketing for the game to be quite good but I guess they were just too ambitious with such a high budget.

It is the best selling 3rd party title for the Wii U. It has sold more than half a million, about the same as Pikmin 3, WW HD and Lego City undercover. If Ubisoft didn't make profit out of that title, they did something seriously wrong. It wasn't exactly a high-budget game either. Ubisoft is lying about ZombiU.

Interesting. Strange that Ubisoft would lie like that to justify their decision against a sequel and for Rayman Legends going multiplatform. Thanks for informing me on the matter.

Ubisoft didn't lie, it was the people who reported it, they simply put words into their mouths and suddenly everyone believed that Ubisoft lost money on it. When, in reality it was completely impossible for it to have lost money with it's sales.

The Ubisoft CEO said otherwise.

Yves Guillemot, Chairman and CEO of Ubisoft, is typically one of the biggest proponents of new systems, but betting big on the Wii U didn't work out well for the company. ZombiU, one of the most popular launch titles for the system with players, was not profitable, he says. Not even close. As such, he says, there are no plans (or even desire) for a sequel.

Zombi U is turning into a bit of a cult type game, similar to Wonderful 101 in a sense. I see on a lot of forums, here included, people recommending those two titles when new Wii U owners ask what games do they recommend apart from 1st party obvious choices. I think these two games will end of having decent lifetime sales.

Hmm, yes, I actually think R00bot is right here, and that this article is a quote on an original lie. So, I think you and I were both wrong in taking this quote for true. Ubisoft is probably not lying, because they probably never said it didn't turn profit.
