[Correction: The previous headline and article text mistakenly inferred that these images were taken from the console version of Project Cars. The game is available on Xbox One and PS4, but the following images were generated on PC. -- Justin Haywald, Senior Editor]

That's why my post didn't say anything about it being console screens or even wii u specific. But the screens are interesting because they let us know what kind of playing ground the wii u version will be shooting for.

Still, thanks for posting that. There would no doubt be questions about it had you not.

it won't look anything like that on the WiiU, out of all the versions the WiiU will be the worst behind the X1, PS4 & PC i would think as its the least powerful of the bunch.

Why not? Need for Speed: Most Wanted U looked very close graphically to this, and the devs have said that the Wii U version won't be the worst. Whether they meant graphically, feature-wise, or gameplay-wise is still unknown (I think).

but NFS-MWU looks nothing like project cars, project cars looks miles better, actually next-gen better.

Yes, next gen as in xbox-xbox360-expected, not what we have now. Forza is great, but this gives the real 'wow' experience.

I wonder if these screens are on a SLI/Xfire rig or if they are actually close to what we will be seeing on the PS4 (I refuse to try EA's game @ 30fps).

I am actually debating PC or WII U for this, and skipping the One/PS4 versions.

I'll probably have to see Project Cars in action to tell the difference. As far as car detail and lighting go they look extremely similar. Water effects and texture detail on grass and trees looks to be better in Project Cars.

If it's PC, PS4, Wii U screens or whatever those are some of the finest textures I've seen.

The amount of effort the team SEEMS to be putting into the wii I version of this game is palpable. Part of the studio having the luxury of investing resources into what has been a "disappointing" third party sales platform is how the game has been funded.

The wii u version of the game benefits greatly from the ps360 versions being dropped. That in itself eliminates the stupid confusion that some developers have shown by trying to treat the wii u like a 360, when they are worlds apart in terms of capability and in terms of how to develop games.

In terms of poly counts, high res textures, the various effects on display so far, the wii u can handle it. The main look and feel of the game will be very nice on wii u.

The resolution is where there will likely be a discrepancy. Possibly some effects related to particles, etc too.

The pics have a "sharpened" look to them, likely indicating they were originally captured at a very high pc resolution beyond 1080p before resizing (since they are "untouched," meaning not sharpened after the fact).

The ps4 will be fortunate to achieve 1080p, but that's where I believe it will settle. X1 may be 1080p as well. Or 900p. Wii u meanwhile, may well end up at 720 p while using the wii U 1080 upscaling.

Will be fun to see how it turns out.

This game may end up being the third party "moment of truth" in terms of development effort and graphics related production values.

I hope you are correct and this could very well be the case. I pretty much have given up all hope on the "next gen" Watchdogs on WiiU. I just don't believe anything until I actually see it. Even fast Neo sounds great but until I see actually footage it doesn't mean anything. We have no idea what other next gen titles will be developed for WiiU along with ps4 and xb1. We just have to wait and see.

Watch dogs on wii u should have been the equivalent of the ps4/x1 versions. But it seems Ubi was intent on limiting it. And the game appears to have been suckage from the get go. Just like the xbox engined zombi u. The Division was the real effort.

I hold no hope for watch dogs at all. I think it may have its moments. But there are too many indicators of marketing getting way ahead of the actual game development.

Project cars however seems like a game that's "trying" at least somewhat to utilize the wii u hardware in order to provide a true representation of what the console can do.

Probably best to hold the hype. But can't help the excitement when the pc version looks THAT good.

I think 2014 has been the consensus expectation to see "real" wii u games, properly designed for the console (and moving away from xbox 360 game versions sloppily plopped onto the wii u)

Mk8, donkey kong, fast racing, X, etc. all in 2014. And they all look awesome ( actually giving X the benefit.. Expecting it to look awesome based on progress made, vs. Mario kart, which just looks amazing off the bat). Anyone came see that. But we could also run into a situation where the true next gen U games come out, look great, and some haters or pessimists simply refuse to acknowledge that.

The funny thing is that the x1 and ps4 - both of which benefit from having their launch games designed specifically for their well known architectures - and people are still wondering where the next gen games are at. I've played through the x1 game Ryse, which has been called by many the best looking next gen game so far. While it is indeed a very pretty game, it has it's flaws in the graphics dept, isn't 1080p, and leaves one hoping that isn't all the system has to offer.

but we want big, epic third party next gen goodness on WII U. It's just seems that there is a political agenda against Nintendo from most third parties.

Still, Slightly Mad has made public some development progress which has seen them actually UPGRADE the Wii U version over what they originally budgeted for amd they've said some promising things. But you never know until the end.

So.. I will term it "tempered excitement"

yep no excitment from me... I will not get excited just to be let down. We will see on all fronts. Until i see in game footage or in game screenshots i dont care about what developers boast. i mean we know Wii U has some ability because of the upgrades it has over ps360 but no game has really shown that in full force... But i am looking forward to X, MK8, and Bayo2... I think those especially x and bayo can really show Wii U strengths.

I have Need For Speed U and it looks better than that, that's a badly timed screenshot with lots of bloom and the light-source in front of the car. It actually looks like the other screenshot I posted of it.

he used a pic of a car using nitrous, it's why it's such a blurry pic.
