As usual, I'll just start the thread and give my thoughts on a later post, when I actually think about it.

Yeah, you've done a great job so far, letting the Metal Heads destroy the palace.

So, yeah, the game industry would be a whole lot different.

In 3D games rendering is WAAAAY more difficult, in a 2D sidescroller it only renders as it comes into your line of sight which is roughly 5 centimeters. The way 3D games are made requires you to see pretty far ahead, so, unlike like in tiny on Minecraft, you can actually see an enemy before it starts attacking you :b. Rendering can suck up the majority of a machines power in a 3D game, leaving less room for lovely graphics. So, with our current technology, the realism would be so utterly amazing that it would be, most likely, exactly the same as real life very very soon.
Of course, I may be overdoing it, but I know a hell of a lot about this crap, and it sounds perfectly realistic to me. It must be at least a tiny bit realistic :b.
If I get ninja'd I'm commiting suicide :b.

In the end though, it depends what developers make with the things they have available or at least, that's what I think.
