Except they're selling it at a loss :/

They're not, they're making a $18 profit on every PS4 sold. Microsoft is making a much higher profit from every Xbox One sold. I believe Nintendo is the only manufacturer making a loss from selling its hardware, but the loss becomes a profit when sold with a game.

PS4 to PS3 accounts being abandoned

Discuss.

What does that even mean?

It means your PS3 PSN account is worthless.

Yeah, indeed. When the PS5 launches and they say "sorry, you need new PSN Accounts! (lolol)" you'll think renting them is different how?

Please, show me your magic crystal ball that proves this fact.

I get what you're saying, but you should clarify what you mean by that.

Ahahahaahaaa, Nollog is funny. Like really funny.

No, it isn't worthless. Your PSN account works just fine between PS3-PS4. It's designed to work that way, as a matter of fact.

Quit acting like just because you can stream games, nobody will ever buy a playstation system again. Some (read: most, myself included) people don't have the internet speed needed to stream games, some people rather enjoy actually owning their games rather than streaming them. Some people would rather play TLoU, among other games, with a controller rather than a touchscreen.

That was my experience as well after moving up to the PS4, I guess I just don't speak Nollog. :)

I owned a PS1, PS2 and PS3 and that's more than my fill of Sony.

For now on, I'm sticking strictly to PC and Nintendo.

I'm pretty sure PS4 games aren't part of this service, so that's why.

You been playing lbp racing on your PS4 then?
I assume you paid Sony money for the digital copy of the game on your PS3 account.

It's a trend. There's no reason to own a PSP because they ported the only good games to PS3, no reason to buy a PS3 because they'll be on PSNow soon, why bother spending $600 when you can wait a few years and get the 2 or 3 "exclusives" on PC via gaikai, when your internet connection will be >5MB because unless you love your current contract and your ISP is such a dick that they'll spite your entire Town because you're not signing a new contract, you'll be able to stream at 720p no problem by then.

Where do you get that figure? does it just include parts or does it also include assembly, R&D, marketing and shipping?

You can't use your games you bought on a PS4.

Well, that’s not entirely true either.

All of the PS4 versions of PS3 & Vita games that I already owned were available to me on the PSN store. I also can access all of my messages, trophies and downloaded movies from the PS4, so my account is hardly “worthless". It works exactly as I expected it to, and if the PS3 generation was any indication, we’ll be seeing a lot of PS4 PSN titles appearing with PS3 & Vita versions also included in the price.

Looking into my crystal ball, judging from Sly Cooper and Guacamelee, Sony is moving towards sharing game saves via the cloud on all of their cross-buy titles. I think that further on, if they have a platform that can emulate the PS3 properly, I’d expect to be able to re-download those titles and play them again.

I assume you paid Sony money for the digital copy of the game on your PS3 account.

Yes, and there was never the expectation that I’d be able to play them on any other platform other than the PS3. Read the terms and conditions.

They’re not cannibalizing PSP sales because they don’t make the PSP any more. The PS3 is still a very viable option because streaming games is really an undesirable delivery format for games - especially if the net neutrality ruling isn’t overturned.

I think that Sony knows that which is why there’s the distinction between Now and PSN. Streaming is expensive and performs inconsistently (judging from OnLive). Sony has never come out and said that Now was a true backwards compatibility solution, just that we’d be able to stream PS3 games on the PS4.

PSP games (like the PS1 games) have been reworked for PSN and most, if not all of them, are playable on Vita & PS3 for the same price.

So if we’re keeping score, IMO if any gaming account is really worthless, it’s NID. You can’t log on to another machine with it, and anything you buy on it isn’t actually tied to your account - it’s tied to the hardware. Oh and you have to re-buy eShop games on the 3DS and WiiU.

Because I absolutely adore every system they've released (even the Vita has a few good games) and I'm sure they'll continue to make great games and systems! While I don't yet have a PS4, I'm sure I'll buy one once a new Ratchet & Clank and/or Uncharted game comes out, along with inFAMOUS 3. Nintendo will always be my main company, but Sony makes some great games! Hell, out of my top 10, 3 are PS exclusive, and another is available only on PS3 and Red Ring Piece of Garbage. Yeah, I'm sure Sony will keep being great.

Except they're selling it at a loss :/

Also, is Playstation aiming to become similar to steam with this (except with phone streaming)?

Which is weird, because steam is aiming to become similar to Playstation (and other console makers) with the steamboxes.

They are selling it at a much less of a loss than the PS3 was. A PS Plus subscription makes up for that loss.

This thread sounds like a Nintendo fan's desperate delusions. His crusade to devalue Sony, stop crying dude. PS4 games aren't coming to PS Now. Sony is actually being smart and using it's back catalog unlike the rainbowty E-Shop that Nintendo uses to release 1 measly game a month. And the OP makes no sense. Learn how to write in English buddy. "PSP games, re-bundled and re-released on PS3, PS4 to PS3 accounts being abandoned, PS3 , PSV, etc. all coming to Android, PC, etc. with PlayStation Now."

Seriously does that even mean? Like seriously, try to type a coherent sentence. You just come off as a desperate fanboy.

They're not going to be exclusives though, they'll be on every device.
The point is those "exclusives" will now be on PC and every other device capable of 720p and an internet connection.
It's called PlayStation Now, it's based on Gaikai, a game-streaming service.
Yeah, indeed. When the PS5 launches and they say "sorry, you need new PSN Accounts! (lolol)" you'll think renting them is different how?
IKR, especially when Sony have shown they give no dick-rainbows about removing your purchases from your account when you "upgrade".

BTW, Steam don't and never will stream games, Gabe's said in the past he doesn't think PC gaming is ready for how rainbowty streaming full games will be. I think their timeline for game streaming is 5-10 years from now.
ALSO! The only reason I see for owning a Sony console now is for the impatient, or people who want a media-box.

What are you talking about? Sony doesn't remove purchases from your account. PS4 is not backwards compatible. Sony does not make you get rid of your account, the actual console is not backwards compatible. I am not sure if you can get it through your thick head though.

My Wii U are breaks when I send it in to nintendo to repair it for free while it's in warrantee.
Otherwise, I call them and get them to transfer my purchases with the serial numbers of my consoles.

Nintendo are further ahead any of the other console manufacturers when it comes to accounts.
If you have a Wii account, you have all your purchases on your Wii U.
If you have a DSi account, your DSiware is on the 3DS, if you have a 3DS you have all your 3DS content on a new one you buy.

MEANWHILE, No BC on any of the other current gen consoles.

They don't let you play the content you paid for with your account 2 years ago form your PS3 unless you're on your PS3 with the account, hardware locked?
That was my point, honey.
