ridley needs to be in smash. we need a 2nd metroid character. i just don't know who else. it's not like i've played a metroid game. and shrink him down so that he's like the size of the nes version. that's how you put ridley in smash. case closed.

Nes Version? Really? The only reason he was small was because of the limited hardware of the Nes, you're suppose to imagine him as a giant dragon. Just like Bowser in Super Mario Bros

Ridley doesn't belong in Smash as a playable character. He's already received a representation in the previous title as two bosses, five times the size of a typical character. He's meant to be a giant alien dragon thing that is supposed to dwarf the characters. Shrinking him down just to have a either a rape moveset or an unworthy scaled back moveset is just silly.

 

There are also plenty of other characters that could be used, but when you think of what a star is, it all comes back to Samus. Ridley's recurrence is only in half the games, as a boss no less. He is boss material. He isn't playable character material. It doesn't make sense and there is no need for hashtagging either. So 2013.

 

A more interesting character would be another hunter. Personally, I'd choose Gandrayda. Apart from being a female and an agile infiltrator type, she also has the ability to fight like other characters. She could very well act like Kirby, except use skills from characters that aren't participating in the battle. She makes for a more interesting character and Metroid rep than Ridley, albeit just a one title showtime.

Don't forgot that Zero Mission pretty much retconned his smaller size in the NES. And even if he were shrunken, it would not look right.
