Game Informer reports that Konami’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes looks ‘slightly better’ on the PlayStation 4 compared to Xbox One.
Speaking in a new preview article, the publication’s staff said, “Kojima Productions’ hard work under the hood pays off in the graphics department,” citing examples such as the Fox Engine’s impressive lightning and the sight of “watchtowers [crumbling] to hundreds of pieces with an RPG shot.”
Most interesting, however, is that the mag says creator Hideo Kojima himself has claimed that “MGS V looks slightly better on the PS4 compared to the Xbox One, something we also noted before he mentioned it.”
If true, then this marks the latest in a long line of titles that run slightly better on Sony’s next-generation console. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, FIFA 14 and a few others perform notably worse on the Xbox One, if only by a slight margin.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is due out in March for current and next-generation systems. The game, which reportedly clocks in at only two hours, acts as a prologue chapter to the in-development The Phantom Pain, and takes place shortly after the events of MGS: Peace Walker.
