Ken Levine the genius behind Bioshock has closed Irrational games down. They are making a new narrative based game and giving the rights of Bioshock to 2k to do whatever they want with it. Which means that the next Bioshock will be a new dev team and a new creative lead. This really is heart breaking considering how well the games have done and how well they sold.

I hope Ken has something huge in store. 2K approved this huge change so it must be good.

I can not read that seriously.

Good news though, less studios out to kill themselves and the rest of the industry.

Was it a lack of profit or just the desire of doing things differently?

They had a lot of difficulty during infinite's development, could have been a contributing factor.

Selfish move to put all those people out of work, to be honest.

I don't know about that. Could be that they jumped the shark with Infinite and cannot think of anything else the can do with the Bioshock line.

Turns out 2k told them over a year before infinite came out, that if infinite didnt sell 'considerably more than its predecessors', ie call of duty numbers, that the studio would be shut down.

Which would explain why at around that time, the amazing bioshock infinite they were showing at first, got turned into a linear pile of call of duty cloned crap.

But guys, the gaming industry has never been better!!!! Dont you remember you were just told to think that!!!

Yeah, i read about that yesterday.

5/6 years in development, right? No wonder they had to sell a billion copies to remain open.

How many more studios will be lost this gen?

Just to think that Tomb Raider only recently turned a profit... what are people thinking?!

If you think Infinite was anything like Call of duty you couldn't have played it.  Thats like comparing Diablo to Dark Souls 2.
