i do want developers to take advantage of every single ounce of power a system has. i do understand some developers just dont have the money and engine to make great graphics. there are the developers i hate most which are lazy and looking to make a quick buck and not put their all into the game. so yes i do want a game to look as good as the console can make it... is something wrong with that?

Well, other than what NinjaShock said, there really isn't a problem with that, just so long as that isn't the only deciding factor in your game purchases.

No problem with that, so long as you reasonably understand how difficult it is to do so and shape your expectations similarly.

But do note that many games that don't use a console's power and end up much better than most games that do. Cave Story, Dwarf Fortress, Minecraft (Though only graphical Wise), La mulana and Umineko (VNs aren't even graphically intensive!) are some of many examples in the PC industry.

Luckily for you, the term 'console' to most developers tends to mean 'Try to do everything you can' graphics wise. ;)

EDIT: I think I worded this very badly...
Meme style time :D

1. Many games that aren't super-powerful are still very very awesome.
2. Consoles tend to bring out the power in developers anyway
3. ????
4. Profit!

theres nothing wrong with wanting beautiful graphics :D but the more time thats spent on graphics and visuals, the less time spent on gameplay content, a good balance is what i like to see, but not full power used up because as you can see, since the HD era, games have gotten shorter and shorter.

This is true. Most games these days are lagging music (soundtrack). In the other hand Twilight Princess got everything Graphics, Gameplay, Music etc. Thats why its kinda good that the Wii wasn't as powerful as PS3 & 360 because if it was they would lag so much in music and it wouldn't be the same. Now for the Wii U, they know now that Great Graphics needs Great Music and now taking the Wii U to a whole new level. Nintendo has never been better

What do you mean by "lagging music"? If you're trying to suggest that games on the HD systems don't have good music or something then you're mistaken. Is that what you were trying to say?

Yes. Now days game are trying to make graphics look real and the music they use isn't all that great. I love the graphics, but we need music to go with it, not just an empty sound

It depends on the game, but most games I play on my ps3 had music that was good. But it also depends on the person as well.

Apparently you've been playing crap like the Smurfs on HD systems. I'll use Half-Life 2 as an example. It tries to be realistic in it's art style but it's score is amazing, as it really knows when to play the right Music. Just because you've had a bad experience with HD game's music sucking doesn't mean that's a fact.

Games that refuse to use Gameplay effectively to do anything are like films that refuse to use cinematography in film to do anything.

I never played the smurfs HD, Half Live 2 only played once (good game though). Not all HD games are lagging in music, but some are like Lost Planet, Great Graphics, story line, but the music... Not so great

As I said, just because it was one game does not mean all games abide by that. Plus, LP was a decent game. If you want a game that know's when to use the right Music, try something like Mass Effect 2. Great Visuals, great music.

I happen to disagree with the OP in terms of using every ounce of power to make games look good. The reason I say this is because there are games which look amazing without using the full power provided by the current consoles. A prime example and one of my personal favourite games would be Limbo...I think a good art style far outweighs fancy ultra realistic graphics. That however is just my opinion.

Until I see a Japanese Rock Band (That's sold in Canada), I agree recent Video Game Music tends to sit in above-average-at-best territory. Yes, there is still good music today, but the songs that I get stuck in my head are mostly from early 2000 and prior. Even Guitar Hero hasn't had anything I personally would call amazing since GH3.

...Before someone points out Umineko and/or Touhou I will state that I don't count Indie/Doujin games :V

once again people arent getting the point. there are games released by developers that as a gamer you can tell they didnt put much into it. do i want the developers to sacrifice other parts of the game to make the graphics good... no! but i dont want awesome gameplay and thats it. take advantage of the power the sytem provides and make great graphics that go along with the score and gameplay.

But dear, you should only want good gameplay. With graphics as the nice optional sidedish.

do you guys not understand what generation we are entering. i want my Wii U games to look the part that they are starting a new gen. gameplay is crucial in a game but.... great visual need to be just as important "IF" they can be achieved.
