Do you think Nintendo learned their lesson from that E3 Direct?

It was horribly executed....

The stream was laggy, it kept crashing, and it didn't feel special at all aside from Mario Kart 8 and Smash footage. All they received was backlash and hate for not having a tradition conference, and it hurt them. So you think Nintendo will hold their conference live at E3, or will they repeat history and choose to have yet another conference that will probably have the same problems?

A live conference will help, especially if they reveal big major games, they'll be able to get a live reaction. Like a Starfox or Zelda U trailer.

Some guy (from neogaf) said they had booked their usual space for E3, but so far, now news on if they reserved the usual space for a press conference.

Crossing my fingers that they do it this year.

To be honest, i think they chose the ND last year because they really didn`t have a good show and sharing the stage with MS and Sony would be worse than a ND for E3.

This year i really hope they have a press conference as that will be a good sign that they have a show that shows they have something to fight MS and Sony.

Not to mention that they will probably be showing QoL stuff and the more mainstream media there will be really good PR.

Didn't have a good show? I thought the direct could have been easily integrated into one of the best Nintendo E3's yet. Donkey Kong, Smash, 3D Mario and Mario Kart?

Bingo. The only excuse would have been if the games weren't far along enough in development to have a good amount of footage.

This too. I've seen nothing to believe that Nintendo still isn't living in their little bubble.

The direct is okay. But I do hope they go back on stage, even though the lag will be horrible no matter what.

The games they announced were good, but it was excecuted poorly, just look at past E3's, Miyamoto with a sword and shield, reggie dances etc. last years E3 was just another direct

the HUGE thing we're missing is the audience reaction, when something big got announced and everyone's like "WOOO". I miss that

Be nice if they did a show at least as impactful as 2010. Hard to top 2004.

I had no problem with the direct, I prefer those over stage shows. Except when like they had the orchestra, that was pretty cool.
Power to them either way.

I think it's more about WHAT they show and announce rather than how.  Let's face it, Nintendo could reveal the new Zelda via a YouTube trailer, and it would go viral in a day...  It's all a matter of what they present, not necessarily how...  I think how is very minimal, and is probably restricted to how they present WHAT they've chosen to present, if that makes any sense, lol

Oh heck yeah last year was Nintendo's best E3 yet regarding the games, even better than the E3 2010 offerings. Super Smash Bros, Mario 3D World, Pokemon X/Y, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Monolith Soft's X, the Wind Waker HD, Bayonetta 2, and Wonderful 101 all made this happen. The delivery could have been better, especially if they presented this stuff on stage.

That is to say, what did they show you already didn`t know in advance? Donkey Kong Country TP, was the only surprise.

It´s like the E3 ND was split between January and June: one had the talk, the other showed the stuff.

Also, what 3rd party games made an appearance? Take out the Indie games and you just had Ubisoft and WB.

If you add the lack of surprises with the lack of 3rd party games, you do end up having a not so good show.

Duh, cause that is how ND's are. Obviously they're supposed to be cheap. it's clearly a different atmosphere from being in a theater to on a camera.

They didn't recieve  anything but  backlash..

but  IMO they should go back  to the on-stage presentations. They're more epic.. they're more atmospheric. More hyping, more tense..

No sig.

I think they've learned what they wanted to learn. Personally I liked the ND, I found it way more plesant to watch then the sony/microsoft shows. I don't care about a band playing this, light show here, all this big talk and then done. Just tell me this is what we got, this is what we're working on and this is what you can expect and I'm happy, don't need to know anymore.

Everything can change, but I'm never changing who I am

I never watch Nintendo Directs live. Mostly because I have stuff to do during those hours. It was at least okay to me. I could care less about Little Mac because although I like Punch-Out I am not really a fan of it (I only played it because it was part of the Trial Campaign for Wii U). I am happy to see that the Koopalings are in Mario Kart, but I really want to see that Bowser Jr. is confirmed to return (even though the probability of that happening is 99%). Kirby Triple Deluxe is a game I am really excited about.
