I was thinking about best way to redesign Wii U. Not by changing hardware, but just as cosmetic change for better consumer recognition. So dimensions are the same, hardware is completely the same (motherboard is the same, Disc drive is the same...), everything is the same except the looks. I came up with this:
What do you think? Better than now or worse?

I think this redesign looks really cool, and would hold some value for nostalgia driven fans... I personally like the Wii U how it is, but I can see people buying this as well. 
Although, it looks a lot like an Xbox One... xD

Holy crap that's good. All I could say is that it'd be a little nicer if it was compact. But other than that, it's a beautiful mock-up.

Looks pretty amazing.. now skin it with this and we'll get to EPIC level

Game Pad is just not in that scene. I will do the GamePad redesign later and bring them together. GamePad will just get reskin that will go with these colors.

Well PS4 took Wii's basic design would be ok if Nintendo borrowed back.
WiiU also borrowed 360 controller design which was an evolition of OXB Controller S which took from Dreamcast and Dreamcast took the colored buttons from Super Famicom....whew. SO in any case works out.

Too many colors clashing with each other. Stick with two colors for a system, three just doesn't really work on large-scale. It looked weird on the small little 3DS. The red button by Eject stands out like a sore thumb. Don't really see how this would change sales, either.
But great mock-up skills either way. Graphical wise that's one beautiful picture.

One question though: will dust get into the disc drive so we can experience the old school "game wont play so blow into the console to get the contact pins clean" effect?
