See that adorable little kid? That's five-year-old Kristoffer Von Hassel, and he discovered a major Xbox One password flaw. Kristoffer's parents noticed that the young kid was playing games he wasn't supposed to be on his father's account. When asked how he did it, Kristoffer showed the process which simply involved him typing in space keys at the password verification screen, hitting enter, and then getting into his dad's account.

The family notified Microsoft of the bug, which they have since fixed and even acknowledged Kristopher on their website for the fix. They're also sending him four games, $50, and a year-long subscription to Xbox Live.

Always leave it to a kid to figure some simple way around something. Childproof caps...pfft no biggie. Nintendo DS that survived Mt Everest (seriously have a story on that) but did not survive a 9 year old.

It's not really hacked, he exploited a painfully not good bug Microsoft failed to catch when TESTING their new console's account system.

It's like they didn't bother testing something so important or something.

While it's good to see Xbox rewarding such things, it really seems they're rewarding the wrong part of that tale.  The kid(be it a 5 year old or not) exploited a glitch as it were.  Such actions on their own shouldn't be rewarded no matter how harmless.  The parents who let microsoft know of the major problem however... Yes, kudos to them for passing it along so Msoft can address what they sadly missed.  Give them free stuff and teach the proper lesson

Miiverse was actually hacked during the launch of the Wii U. They found the debug menu with an entire list unconfirmed games.

Giving what they did is almost worst than giving nothing. It's like handing a peasant a few bread crumbs. Microsoft are a multi-million (billion) dollar company. They should have given at LEAST $1000 worth in value for finding such an accessible breach.
