Super Mario 3D World 2 confirmed.

This doesn't stop them from working on other new games of new IP's. Nintendo has enough resources to do that. Besides they still haven't released a true 3D Mario game in the same style as Mario Galaxy, Mario Sunshine and Mario 64. That's what I really want to play. Super Mario 3D World whilst a great game wasn't a true 3D game. That's what they should have done in the first place for their first game on the Wii U.

 

It doesn't stop them, but we don't seem to be hearing about anything else they're working on. I'd also like to play a 'real' 3D Mario game, but I'd like to see other things as well.

And I'm saying change it up a bit. I love Mario, but we already have two games plus dlc for him.

I guess I tried, and failed, to imply that confirming a new 3D Mario is in the works doesn't mean other games aren't. It doesn't even mean that the team working on that game is exclusively making Mario. But, I'm sure that they are always working on the next game.

He probably said this because Mario gets most Nintendo fans excited. Which isn't a problem.

Man I'm not interested in a Mario title at all, at least at the moment.

Most likely it will take some time to come out.
Having to choose one console: most likely 3DS (more time without a new Mario game).

3D Land was nothing more than a bare-bones attempt at being 'unique' -- it took the themed 8 world structure (grass world, water world, desert world, etc) from Super Mario Bros. 3 which had already been done to death before it and just added a gimped and watered-down '3D' control scheme. It didn't push any boundaries or try to have any identity of its own. Hell, even Miyamoto himself even described it as a "3D Mario that plays like a 2D Mario game".

 

And, yes, 3D World took that and ran with it.

I got to admit this is bad because it shows Nintendo are just the same as other companies. We will see in the future if they change but aside for SSBB 4, MK8 and the upcoming Zelda or Metroid U, I just can't see anyone checking for Nintendo until the next installment of Pokemon.

They really REALLY need to give Mario a break. 

Well I do agree they need to give some other franchises a return. This Mario game probably won't be out for a while, their just tossing out ideas. Plus if its close to SM64 (or galaxy, but I didn't like them.) it would be BIG.

Nintendo does try other games, but most people only buy Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, ect the most.

Nintendo can just be so dumb sometimes. People are complaining you are overdoing it on mario and what do you do... announce a new mario is in the works... how about announce a new F-ZERO, STARFOX, METROID, WAVERACE in the works.... damn!
