So, basically someone gave a fancy shell to the NES. My only question is ... Does it play games in HD!? Haha. What you guys think? Worth $500?

Nah most collectors just keep a Sony CRT around and the games look amazing on them and have a genuine touch to them that way. Whoever buys this isn't into collecting and just has to much money to spare. Also since this is not aimed at collectors. Those people can just use emulators.

Weren't Famicom controllers hard-wired to the console?

To be quite honest, I have no idea who this is aimed at whatsoever.
It's a $500 console for a system that can be readily gotten for $100 with Super Mario Bros 1 through 3...or emulated on just about any electronic device out there. :|
But I guess that 1080p SMB3 is just too good to pass up MUST PREORDERALWAYS
EDIT: So I read through his pricing, and...it's hilarious.
$49 for any other color besides the White/grey one you see.
$49 (an exclusive pre-orderer price) for HDMI support
$29 for used NES/Famicom controllers, $49 for new
$19 for NES/Famicom Extension cables/HDMI Cable
$29 for Component, Composite, RGB/European SCART, RGB/Japanese SCART, RGB/BNC Cables.
This is a hilarious moneygrab right here. Especially considering the RetroDuo is like, what...$60?

Something tells me that 8bit games upscaled to 1080p is going to look terrible...I'll stick with my toaster style NES, and my old school 20 inch TV....

What's funny, is I was joking about the whole HD thing. And apparently ... it does do HD. Which, honestly, is WEIRD.

There was another Famicom model called the HVC-101 like the NES-101 which had interchangeable controllers.
