Is it against the law or something? Do you go to jail if you ran?
Why can't you run from a trainer battle in Pokemon?

Because it is no fun, and it's also just one of those laws like no catching others Pokemon set by the league / higher powers.
Imagine if you could just run from every battle, wheres the fun? I mean if you don't like battling, but heh. It makes you feel/look weak if you just run away. And I may be wrong, but isn't the Japanese against running away? Like its a disgrace?

It differentiates trainer battles from wild battles further than just the fact that you're facing multiple Pokemon. It also makes trainer battles much more punishing since you pay money when you lose, forcing you to prepare.

That kind of defeats the purpose of the trainers. Might as well get rid of them if you can just run away.
Running away from wild Pokemon is good enough. You don't to run from everything.
Bleh eh eh.

......lol. Idk they just made it like that so you can't back out of all the battles that are there to test your skills. It wouldn't be cool if you could just skip bosses in other games.

Because it's incredibly rude, like riding your bike or roller blades indoors. Think about it, you're having a battle then your opponent just up and leaves. Like really?
